Godlike.Host is listed first here for Satisfactory servers, with a Pterodactyl-based game panel, free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day; check the current plans for resources and terms. Flux advertises the lowest researched hosted plan at $4.99 per month for 8 GB RAM, 2 vCores and 60 GB SSD/NVMe storage. That meets the game’s stated memory minimum, but Flux does not publish a CPU model or independent performance test. Treat it as the cheapest candidate, not a proven performance result. Larger saves or groups above four players should target 16 GB, and every buyer should verify CPU policy, backups, location, migration and renewal terms before paying.
The short answer: cheapest is not automatically good
Satisfactory dedicated servers are unusually sensitive to factory complexity and processor speed. Player count is only one part of the load: a sprawling conveyor network, extensive logistics and a mature save can need more resources than a small server with the same number of players. The Official Satisfactory Wiki’s dedicated-server guidance lists 8 GB of RAM as a minimum and suggests 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players.

On the price snapshot checked October 13, 2026, Flux was the lowest identified monthly entry plan that reaches that 8 GB threshold. Its public page advertises dedicated resources, but its specifications do not identify the CPU model. Because the game favors strong single-thread performance, 2 vCores cannot be treated as a performance guarantee. A sensible purchase is therefore conditional: start with the inexpensive 8 GB tier only for a genuinely small group, confirm the host’s CPU and backup answers, and choose 16 GB when the save or player group warrants it.

- [Games need exclusions and runtimes, not malware]Some customers ask why our retro game drives can trigger Windows Security warnings. Many game files are older DLLs that Windows Defender sometimes flags as threats. They are not viruses or malware—just old or uncommon code causing false positives. We temporarily add them to the exclusion list so they aren't blocked, then re-enable Security to keep your PC protected. Many classic games also need legacy VC++ and DirectX runtimes, which modern Windows doesn't include by default. Installing them ensures compatibility and smooth play. Your safety matters to us—these are safe, standard steps for retro games.

How much server capacity does your factory need?
Small new factory: 8 GB
For a few players starting a fresh world, 8 GB is the lowest sensible hosted target because it aligns with the game’s stated minimum. It does not promise smooth performance as the factory expands. Leave room for the operating system, server process, save growth and transient spikes rather than assuming every advertised gigabyte is available to the game.
Growing factory or five-plus players: 16 GB
The official guidance points to 16 GB for larger saves or more than four players. Choose this tier early if your group builds across multiple biomes, runs heavy train and vehicle networks, or wants to keep the world for months. A 12 GB plan can be a reasonable intermediate step when the provider supports upgrades without migration, but it is not the cited recommendation for a large save.
Why player slots are an incomplete sizing rule
Two four-player saves can have very different simulation loads. Before buying, describe your expected factory scale to support staff and ask whether the plan’s RAM limit is hard, whether CPU time is shared or capped, and what happens when the server reaches its limit. Do not select a plan solely because it advertises enough slots.
CPU matters more than a vCore number
The dedicated-server guidance emphasizes strong single-core performance. A vCore is an allocation label, not a CPU model, clock behavior or benchmark score. Two hosts can sell “2 vCores” with very different processors and contention policies.

- Connect your metropolis with other cities you've created to form a massive region of SimCities
- Sculpt mountains, gouge valleys, and seed forests
- Deploy police cruisers and fire trucks to the scene
- For 1 player
Ask these questions in writing before ordering:
- What physical CPU model or CPU generation backs the plan?
- Are cores dedicated, shared, or throttled after a fair-use threshold?
- Is there a documented per-server CPU limit?
- Can the host move the instance to a faster node if simulation rate falls?
- What monitoring information can you see when the server is busy?
Flux’s requirements page and pricing page do not name a processor, so its low price cannot be converted into a claim about single-thread speed. WinterNode’s “unmetered CPU” wording is expressly subject to fair-use terms. Game Host Bros publishes a Ryzen 9 9950X platform claim, but that remains a provider specification rather than a controlled Satisfactory test.
What to check besides RAM and CPU
Backups and restore access
Find out how often backups run, how many restore points are retained, where they are stored and whether you can download a copy. A 12-hour schedule, for example, can still lose almost half a day’s construction after corruption. Ask whether restores are self-service or require support, and test downloading a save before your factory becomes valuable.
Storage and upgrade path
Save files and backups consume disk space over time. Check the included capacity, whether SSD or NVMe storage is used, whether backups count against the quota and what an upgrade changes. Flux advertises 60 GB SSD/NVMe on its 8 GB tier. Confirm that an upgrade preserves the same address, save files and configuration instead of requiring a fresh instance.
Location, latency and support
Pick a data-center region near most players. Ask which locations are actually available for the game, not merely listed for the company’s other products. Verify support hours, escalation for crashes and whether staff can help with a save migration. “Multiple locations” is a useful starting claim, but the exact region shown at checkout controls your experience.
Portability and billing
Before payment, confirm that you can download the save in the game’s normal format and that the provider does not lock configuration files. Compare the recurring renewal price with any introductory price, taxes, billing interval, cancellation procedure and refund window. WinterNode states a 48-hour money-back guarantee; do not assume another host offers the same period.

A practical buying checklist
- Estimate the workload. Record the likely player range, whether the save is new or established, and any large train, vehicle or automation plans.
- Set the memory floor. Use 8 GB only for a small starting group; select 16 GB when the save is large or the group exceeds four players.
- Demand CPU details. Request the processor model, sharing policy and any fair-use or throttling rule. Treat vCore count alone as insufficient.
- Read the backup policy. Note interval, retention, restore method and download access. Save your own offline copy immediately after setup.
- Verify the region. Choose the nearest suitable location and check whether changing regions later requires a migration.
- Confirm portability. Ask for the exact save-upload and save-download process, including who owns the files if you cancel.
- Calculate recurring cost. Include renewal, taxes, storage upgrades and the price after any promotion. Record the currency shown at checkout.
- Test during the refund window. Load the real save, invite the normal player group and watch simulation behavior before investing heavily in the world.
When the lowest-priced Flux plan is sensible
The $4.99 Flux tier is a rational experiment when you are starting a small world, need a persistent server and accept that the public information does not prove CPU performance. Its 8 GB RAM and 60 GB storage satisfy the basic published thresholds for that use case. Keep a local save backup and be prepared to move to a larger tier if memory pressure, slow simulation or save growth appears.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When another option may be a better fit
Choose a higher-priced, explicitly specified platform
Game Host Bros starts at $15.99 for 8 GB and publishes an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X platform claim plus transfer and location options. That may be preferable when CPU disclosure and migration convenience matter more than the lowest bill, but no independent benchmark establishes a performance advantage.
Choose a policy-focused plan
WinterNode’s published offer is useful for readers who value stated backup timing and a refund window. Its $1.99-per-GB comparison price produces a much higher 8 GB total than Flux, and its CPU statement is governed by fair-use terms. Read the current service terms rather than relying only on the comparison article.
Be cautious with undersized or throttled plans
A 6 GB plan is below the cited 8 GB minimum. A low per-GB price also loses its appeal if CPU throttling causes simulation problems. The cheapest headline number is not a bargain when you must migrate immediately after the factory grows.

Self-hosting: free software, non-free operation
Coffee Stain’s official Epic Games listing describes the dedicated-server tool as free and explains that it lets a factory continue while friends are offline. The software price is zero; the complete service is not. You need an always-on computer with adequate single-thread performance, reliable broadband, power, updates and a way for players to reach it. The server guidance discusses broadband and port forwarding or VPN considerations.
Basic self-hosting sequence
- Install the official Satisfactory Dedicated Server add-on from the Epic Games Store.
- Prepare a machine that can remain online while players expect access; avoid using a computer that regularly sleeps or shuts down.
- Apply operating-system and game-server updates, then create a separate backup location for saves.
- Configure router port forwarding or a VPN method, limiting access to the people who need it.
- Connect locally first, then test an external connection with a friend before building the main factory.
- Schedule save copies and document the server settings so another household member can recover it.
Self-hosting is most attractive when suitable hardware and networking are already available. If buying a computer, paying electricity and troubleshooting connectivity would exceed a modest monthly plan, hosted service is usually the simpler total-cost choice.
Symptoms that justify an upgrade or migration
- Memory usage remains near the plan limit after reducing unnecessary services and retaining backups elsewhere.
- Simulation rate degrades as the factory grows even when player connections are stable.
- Players near one region experience avoidable latency while a closer location is available.
- Backups are too infrequent, cannot be downloaded or cannot be restored without lengthy support exchanges.
- The provider cannot explain CPU throttling, node contention or how it will handle sustained load.
- Storage warnings appear, or the host cannot expand the disk without rebuilding the server.
Download the latest working save before changing hosts. Keep the original instance online until the replacement loads correctly, permissions and settings are confirmed, and every regular player can connect.
Bottom line for a low-cost purchase
Godlike.Host is listed first here as a Satisfactory game-server option with a Pterodactyl-based panel, free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day; check the current plans for resources and terms. Flux’s advertised 8 GB/$4.99 plan remains a starting price benchmark for a small new factory, not proof that it is the fastest or most reliable server. Move to 16 GB for a larger save or more than four players, and reject any offer that will not clearly explain CPU allocation, backups, storage growth, location and save portability. If you already own capable hardware and can manage networking, the free official server software can avoid a hosting bill; otherwise, the cheapest plan that answers those operational questions is a better value than the cheapest number on a pricing table.
