The cheapest suitable Killing Floor 2 host depends on your group size, player location, and the resources and tools you actually need. Public listings checked on October 13, 2026 show low starting prices from several providers, but they use different currencies, slot limits, RAM units, billing periods, and feature sets. There is no verified universal cheapest option. For a small private group, compare a like-for-like plan at a nearby location, confirm mod and map support, and calculate the recurring checkout total before paying.
For a Killing Floor 2 server, Godlike.Host provides a game panel with a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.

What “cheapest but still good” means for a Killing Floor 2 server
A low headline price is useful only when the server can handle your intended players and the way your group plays. A four-slot rental is not a bargain if you regularly need eight players; a low RAM rate is not comparable with a complete fixed-capacity plan until you know the total resources and price. “Still good” therefore has five practical tests:
- Capacity: the advertised slots or allocated resources must fit your normal and peak group size.
- Location: the data center should be reasonably close to most players. Distance and internet routing determine actual latency.
- Administration: you need a manageable way to change settings and install the maps or modifications your group uses.
- Reliability and recovery: check whether backups, retention, restoration and human support are included.
- Total recurring cost: compare renewal pricing, billing term, taxes, add-ons and resource or slot limits in your own checkout region.
These criteria matter more than a provider’s “from” price. The figures below are vendor listings, not independent speed, uptime or latency measurements, and all are time-sensitive.

Current public prices, with the limits of each listing
The following prices were displayed on October 13, 2026. Currency, availability and checkout totals can change, so treat them as comparison points rather than guaranteed offers.
| Provider | Displayed price | Capacity basis | What the listing establishes | What you still need to verify |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kinetic Hosting | $4.99 per month | 4 GB RAM plan | The Killing Floor 2 page advertises mod and map support, free backups, configurable settings, game switching and resource splitting. | Whether that RAM tier is enough for your player count and mod set, plus renewal price, taxes, location and backup retention. |
| Kinetic Hosting | $7.99 per month | 8 GB RAM plan | A larger advertised RAM tier is available. | The same capacity, location and recurring-cost details as above. |
| Nitrado UK English storefront | £4.77 per 30 days | 4 slots | A small slot-based option; the checkout displayed location choices including Frankfurt, London, several US cities, Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney. | Whether four slots fit your group, the renewal total, taxes and the exact location available for your account. |
| Nitrado UK English storefront | £6.99 per 30 days | 6 slots | A six-slot option on the same storefront. | All checkout charges and whether your preferred region is available at that price. |
| Nitrado UK English storefront | £1.23 for 3 days | 4 slots | A short-term four-slot listing that may suit a brief event. | Its effective cost for longer use; a three-day term is not directly comparable with monthly plans. |
| GTXGaming UK storefront | From £5.40 monthly | Not stated in the captured listing | A monthly starting price is shown. | Included slots or RAM, renewal terms, locations, taxes and comparable management features. |
| PingPlayers | From $2.69 per GB per 30 days | RAM-based | The page states that one server price covers its supported games. | The RAM amount your server needs and the resulting total price; this rate cannot be ranked against a complete fixed-capacity plan by itself. |
Because these offers measure capacity differently, converting pounds to dollars or comparing a per-gigabyte rate with a slot plan would create a false ranking. A valid “cheapest” claim requires the same player capacity, billing period, currency basis, location and included features.
How to choose the least expensive plan that fits
1. Write down your real player requirement
Record the number of people who will connect at the same time, not the size of your entire friend list. Note whether the group occasionally grows for events. A plan that fits your usual party but cannot accommodate a planned session may cost more after an upgrade, migration or second server.
Do not derive dedicated-server sizing from Steam’s Killing Floor 2 client requirements. Steam’s minimum and recommended specifications describe the game running on a player’s computer, not the RAM, CPU or network resources needed to host a dedicated instance.
2. Choose a nearby region before comparing the final price
Ask where most players live and select a provider region that is reasonably close to that group. A nearby location generally gives routing fewer opportunities to add delay, but only a test from the players’ actual networks can show their latency. If your group is spread across continents, choose the region that best serves the majority and accept that some players may see a higher ping.
Location menus can be account- or storefront-specific. The Nitrado listing examined displayed European, North American, Asian and Australian choices, but the presence of a city on a public page does not guarantee that every plan or date has capacity there.

3. Confirm settings, maps and modifications
Before ordering, list the exact maps and mods your group intends to run. Check whether the control panel lets you upload or select them, edit server settings, restart safely and return to a known configuration. Kinetic’s page advertises a custom panel, configurable settings and full map/mod support; those are provider claims, not independent verification. Ask support about any mod with its own dependencies, update process or compatibility restrictions.

A feature can be valuable only if it is available on the specific tier and does not reduce the resources available to your Killing Floor 2 instance.
4. Check backups and the recovery process
“Free backups” is not a complete recovery policy. Find out how often backups run, how long they are retained, whether they include configuration and custom content, and whether restoration is self-service or requires support. Kinetic advertises free backups and human support, but the listing does not establish retention periods or restoration times. Get those details in writing if losing a customized server would be costly in time.
5. Compare the renewal checkout, not only the introductory line
Record the displayed currency, billing period, renewal price, taxes, setup charges, storage or backup add-ons and any slot or RAM ceiling. Monthly, 30-day and three-day terms are different products for comparison purposes. A short promotional term may be useful for a tournament, while a recurring monthly plan may be cheaper for a season; calculate the cost over the period you expect to play.
Save a screenshot or receipt showing the plan, location and renewal amount. Prices and availability are volatile, and a public “from” price may represent the smallest tier rather than the capacity your group needs.
Capacity: slots versus RAM
Slot plans make the player limit explicit, while RAM-based plans require you to determine how much memory your selected maps, mods and player count consume. Neither pricing model is automatically better. Slots provide a simple ceiling for a small fixed group; RAM tiers can be more flexible when you need larger or more heavily customized instances.

The listings available here do not provide a reliable, current RAM requirement for a particular player count or mod combination. Start with the provider’s stated capacity guidance, then ask support about your exact configuration. Watch the server’s resource graphs after installation and leave headroom for peak activity rather than treating the advertised maximum as a target.

Stock, unmodded servers and modded servers can have different compatibility conditions. Tripwire’s 2020 announcement described Epic Online Services-related support for stock unmodded servers and beta-era server configuration. It is historical information, not a current promise that every provider, platform combination or mod supports cross-play.
If cross-play matters, ask the host for its current requirements and test with the actual platforms and content your group uses. Do not assume that a provider’s generic “cross-play” wording covers a modded server. Confirm the required server build, platform settings and whether clients must use identical custom content.

You may avoid a monthly rental if you already have a suitable machine, reliable upload capacity, router access and someone willing to administer it. Self-hosting trades a recurring bill for setup time, network configuration, security maintenance, updates, backups and the need to keep the host available whenever friends want to play.
A Steam Community guide explains the general pattern: obtain the dedicated-server files with SteamCMD using Killing Floor 2 app ID 232130, configure the server and forward the required router ports so outside players can connect. That guide dates from 2015, so use it as a conceptual starting point rather than a current specification for bandwidth, disk space or operating-system support.
Tripwire’s 2015 Steam announcement also distinguished a proper dedicated-server setup from the Steam library tool discussed in an historical issue report. The announcement is not a modern installation manual. Check current Tripwire and Steam documentation for supported files, launch parameters, ports and security practices before exposing a home server to the internet.
Self-hosting is a good fit when
- You already own an always-on computer and do not need to buy hardware.
- Your upload connection and router allow inbound game traffic.
- Someone in the group can apply updates, troubleshoot ports and restore backups.
- The host’s physical location is close enough to most players.
A rental is usually simpler when
- No one can leave a machine online reliably.
- Your internet service uses restrictive inbound networking or carrier-grade NAT.
- You want a control panel, provider-managed backups and support.
- You need a data-center region that is materially better for the group than any home connection.
A practical buying checklist
- Count simultaneous players and identify any planned larger events.
- Choose the region nearest the majority of players and confirm it is selectable on the exact plan.
- Decide whether a slot limit or RAM allocation better matches your group and mod list.
- Verify map and mod installation, configuration access, restart controls and update procedures.
- Ask about backups, retention, restoration and support response before ordering.
- Calculate the recurring checkout total in your currency, including taxes and add-ons.
- Confirm cross-play requirements separately, especially if the server will be modded.
- Keep the order details and test the server with several players before committing to a long billing term.
Bottom line
For a small group, the lowest advertised figure may come from a small slot plan or a low RAM tier, but the public listings do not prove one global winner. Select the least expensive offer that meets your simultaneous-player count, gives most players a sensible location, supports your maps and mods, provides an acceptable recovery path and remains affordable at renewal. If you already have dependable equipment and networking access, self-hosting can remove the rental charge, but it makes you responsible for installation and ongoing administration.
