Cheapest Abiotic Factor Server Hosting That’s Still Good (October 2026 Guide)

NitroServ is listed at €6.99/month for six players in a 27 August 2026 comparison, but no provider is universally cheapest. Learn how to compare real checkout totals, self-host on Windows and avoid save, platform and networking problems.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Abiotic Factor server hosting; check its current plans alongside the dated figures below. A dated European comparison (27 August 2026) lists NitroServ at €6.99 per month for six players, while Minestrator charges €6.99 for up to three and €13.99 for up to six. Those snapshots use different currencies, regions, billing terms and capacities, so verify the full checkout total for your country and group size.

For most friend groups, compare six-player plans or smaller. The developer’s launch-parameter documentation permits 1–24 configured players but warns that more than six is not recommended. “Still good” therefore means a host with a suitable nearby location, transparent renewal price, usable backups and restore access, compatible saves and platforms, and controls you can operate without waiting for support.

What “cheapest” really means for an Abiotic Factor server

A monthly headline price is only comparable when the plans match on the details that determine your bill and your playing experience. Before calling one host cheaper, match:

  • Player capacity: compare six-player capacity with six-player capacity, not a three-slot plan against a six-slot plan.
  • Currency and region: taxes, exchange rates, payment fees and available data-center locations vary by country.
  • Billing period: a 30-day charge, calendar-month subscription and annual commitment are different products.
  • Renewal price: introductory discounts or first-month promotions may not continue.
  • Included controls: backups, restore tools, file access, update controls and migration assistance can change the practical value of a low price.

The available evidence does not establish a market-wide winner, a universal lowest price or a measured performance ranking. The figures below are dated plan advertisements, not independent speed, uptime or tick-rate tests.

HostMyGame states that prices and promotional codes were checked in 2026 and can change regularly. Treat its comparison as a dated snapshot, not a price guarantee. An 11 October 2026 comparison result also displayed US listings such as GPORTAL at $10.23 for six slots per 30 days, LOW.MS at $10.65 per month for six slots, and XGamingServer at $7 for the first month followed by $10 per month. GMKtec K12 Gaming Mini PC Oculink AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 (Upgraded 8745HS) 32GB DDR5 RAM 512GB SSD, Desktop Computer Radeon 780M Graphics, 3X M.2 2280 Storage Expansion, Dual NIC 2.5G, HDMI 2.1, USB4
  • RYZEN 7 H 255 CPU - The Ryzen 7 H 255 is a chip from the Hawk Point family and is an upgraded version of the older Ryzen 7 8745H and has 8 cores (16 threads thanks to SMT support) that run at up to 4.9 GHz, together with the powerful Radeon 780M iGPU. Unlike Zen 3, Zen 4 offers AVX512 support along with other improvements such as larger caches/registers/buffers across the board.
  • GAMING PC - The Radeon 780M (12 CUs / 768 shaders, up to 2,600 MHz) can drive multiple displays simultaneously with a resolution of up to 8K. Hardware encoding and hardware decoding of the most common video codecs (AV1, AVC, HEVC) is also no problem; playing the latest games on FSR settings without issues.
  • WHY CHOOSE DDR5 5600MHz DUAL CHANNEL (2×16GB): With a 5600MHz clock—a 17% frequency uplift over 4800MHz—this kit delivers massive bandwidth gains that elevate real-world performance. Gamers enjoy higher minimum FPS and less stutter in open-world and sim titles for a smoother competitive experience. Video editors and 3D creators benefit from faster 4K/8K timeline scrubbing, quicker renders in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere, and swifter asset loading. For AI/LLM workloads, the superior throughput reduces I/O bottlenecks, cuts token generation latency, and accelerates model fine-tuning by keeping processing cores fed with data—so you wait less and create more.
  • 32GB DDR5 RAM + 512GB SSD - The K12 mini computer is equipped with Dual 16GB (Total 32GB) SO-DIMM DDR5 5600MHz memory sticks. 512GB PCIE 4.0 SSD Drive with 3x M.2 2280 Expansion slots. Each slot capable of reading up to 8TB. (24TB MAX)
  • QUAD SCREEN 4K DISPLAY SUPPORT - K12 Mini PC support 4-screen 4K/8K output via HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (4K@60Hz), and USB Type-C Transfer speed (supporting PD3.0/DP1.4/DATA). Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.

That makes six players a sensible comparison baseline. If your normal group is three people, a three-slot plan can be cheaper, but confirm that the limit includes administrators and that you can upgrade without rebuilding the world. If you occasionally have seven or more players, do not assume that buying 12 or 24 slots solves the problem: the developer specifically cautions against counts above six, and no independent performance testing is available here.

Questions to ask about slots

  • Is the advertised number a hard concurrent-player limit or merely a suggested tier?
  • Can you raise or lower the limit during the billing period?
  • Does changing slots require a restart, migration or new save?
  • Are extra slots priced per player, per tier or as a larger fixed plan?

Renting versus keeping a server at home

Abiotic Factor’s dedicated server must remain running whenever friends need to join. Renting transfers the machine, network connection and much of the maintenance to a provider. Self-hosting avoids a hosting invoice, but you supply the computer, electricity, bandwidth, router configuration and time to apply updates and recover from failures.

Consideration Home Windows machine Rented host
Up-front and recurring cost No hosting subscription, but electricity, hardware and internet costs continue. Predictable subscription; tax, renewal and setup fees depend on the provider.
Availability The PC must stay on, connected and logged in as required by your setup. Usually designed to remain online without leaving your personal PC running.
Network setup You may need router port forwarding; carrier-grade NAT can prevent incoming connections. The provider normally supplies the public endpoint, but panel and port arrangements differ.
Maintenance You handle Windows updates, server updates, security and backups. Check exactly what the plan automates; “managed” does not always include restores or every update.
Control Full access to files, operating system and backup location. Control-panel features and file access vary by host and plan.

The developer-linked Quickstart identifies a Windows machine that can remain online as the documented dedicated-server route. It says the dedicated server is currently Windows-only. A spare Windows desktop or mini PC can work if it stays powered and connected; the available guidance does not specify a minimum CPU, memory or storage model, so do not buy hardware based on an unverified performance promise.

Self-hosting setup on Windows

The official Quickstart describes installation through SteamCMD with anonymous login and App ID 2857200. Use a dedicated folder and an account with permission to install and run the service.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Prepare Windows. Use a machine that can remain online during play sessions. Install current Windows updates, keep the machine behind a firewall and reserve enough disk space for the server files and save backups.
  2. Install SteamCMD. In SteamCMD, use the documented anonymous login and set an installation directory. The essential application identifier is 2857200.
  3. Download or update the server. Run the SteamCMD application update for App ID 2857200, then close SteamCMD cleanly so file locks are released before starting the server.
  4. Start the dedicated server. Follow the Quickstart’s launch instructions and set the player-count option within the recommended six-player range unless you have a specific reason to test otherwise.
  5. Configure the network. The Quickstart gives game port 7777 and query port 27015 as example settings. Forwarding may be required when the server does not appear in the browser. These are example ports from the guide, not a rule that every rented provider uses the same values.
  6. Test from outside the home network. Have a friend try to find and join the server. If local players can connect but outside players cannot, check the Windows firewall, router forwarding and whether your internet service uses carrier-grade NAT.
  7. Automate safe operation. Set a restart schedule only after confirming that saves are written correctly. Keep dated copies of the save directory on a separate disk or computer; a backup on the same failing drive is not a recovery plan.

When carrier-grade NAT blocks you

Carrier-grade NAT places multiple households behind an upstream address, so your router may not receive a public IPv4 address to which ports can be forwarded. The Quickstart warns that home port forwarding may fail in this situation. Ask your internet provider whether a public address is available, or use a rented server instead of repeatedly changing router settings that cannot work through the provider’s NAT.

What to verify before paying a host

Use the following checklist on the provider’s current order page and control-panel documentation. Save screenshots of the price and included features because both plans and promotions change.

Price and contract

  • Record the currency, tax-inclusive total and payment-processing fee.
  • Check whether the charge covers 30 days, a calendar month or a longer commitment.
  • Write down the renewal amount, not only the first-month promotion.
  • Confirm the cost to add slots or move to a different capacity.

Location and access

  • Choose an actual data center close to the players. A location listed on a sales page is not a measured latency guarantee.
  • Check whether you receive a dedicated address, a nonstandard port or both.
  • Confirm that every player’s platform can connect to that server.

Backups and recovery

  • Ask how often backups run and how many days are retained.
  • Confirm whether you can start a restore yourself or must open a support ticket.
  • Check whether save files can be downloaded for an independent copy or future migration.
  • Find out whether backups continue during plan suspension or billing problems.

Administration and support

  • Look for file-manager or SFTP access, configurable launch parameters and a clear update process.
  • Check whether the panel exposes logs and whether you can schedule restarts.
  • Read support hours and escalation rules. A low price is less useful if a broken save waits days for a response.

The developer-maintained verified-provider list names GPORTAL, Survival Servers and BisectHosting. “Verified” indicates inclusion on that list; it is not a ranking, uptime guarantee or independent performance certification.

Save files, platforms and migration limits

The documented migration route moves a Steam player-hosted world to a dedicated server. Plan the move before cancelling the original host: stop the game and server cleanly, make an untouched backup of the existing save, copy the save through the provider’s supported file method, then start the dedicated instance and verify the world with the original players.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The same guide says saves from PS5, Xbox and Windows Game Pass are not supported by that migration route. If your group uses those platforms, confirm compatibility and crossplay with the provider before paying. Do not assume that a provider’s “crossplay” label means every existing save can be imported.

Common failure modes and practical fixes

The server does not appear in the browser

Check that the process is running, the Windows firewall allows the server, and the configured game and query ports match the forwarding rules. Test from a different network. If outside connections still fail, investigate carrier-grade NAT rather than buying a larger plan.

Friends can connect but the world rolls back

Stop the server, preserve the current save, inspect logs and restore the newest known-good backup. If the host cannot expose backups or let you download saves, consider migrating before the next incident.

The first month looked cheap, then the bill jumped

Compare the renewal line on the order page with the promotional line. Check tax, currency conversion and whether the provider bills 30 days rather than a calendar month. Cancel or resize before renewal if the recurring amount no longer fits your group.

A larger slot tier does not improve play

Abiotic Factor’s own warning makes player counts above six a questionable choice. Reduce the configured count, examine server logs and ask support about CPU or memory contention instead of assuming that more advertised slots equal more performance.

A sensible buying decision for a typical group

  1. Count the highest number of concurrent Steam players you realistically expect; start with six or fewer.
  2. Collect two or three current checkout totals in your currency, including tax and renewal price.
  3. Reject plans that do not state backup frequency, retention or restore access.
  4. Choose a nearby location and confirm platform and save compatibility.
  5. Only then compare extras such as daily backups, DDoS protection or a larger memory allocation.
  6. Keep an independent copy of the save even when the host advertises automated backups.

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Abiotic Factor server hosting; see the current plans and verify checkout details rather than treating any figure as universal. On the dated evidence available for October 2026, NitroServ’s €6.99 six-player listing is the lowest clearly stated price for a plan matching the recommended group size, but it is not proven to be the cheapest in every country or after checkout. Minestrator’s €6.99 option is cheaper only because it is limited to three players; its six-player tier is €13.99. Treat those figures as starting points for a matched comparison, not as universal rankings.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
