ChangeTower Alerts Not Arriving by Email: Troubleshooting Guide

Check ChangeTower notification preferences first, then verify the monitor’s schedule, email setting, recipient access, and in-app event before contacting support.

If ChangeTower alerts are not arriving by email, first check Settings → Notification Preferences for the alert category you expect. Then verify that the monitor is scheduled, email alerts are enabled for it, and it has detected a qualifying change. If the notification appears in ChangeTower but no email arrives, contact support: the available public documentation does not show delivery logs or identify mailbox-specific causes.

1. Check the notification category preference

  1. In ChangeTower, open Settings → Notification Preferences.
  2. Find the category that matches the missing alert and make sure its checkbox is enabled. Examples in ChangeTower’s help include “Monitor started,” “Change detected,” and “Domain scan completed.”
  3. Changes to these preferences apply automatically. If the labels in your account differ, follow the current wording shown there.

A disabled category can prevent that kind of notification from reaching your inbox even when other alert types work. ChangeTower’s notification-preferences guide explains the available category controls.

2. Confirm that the monitor had a reason to send an alert

ChangeTower’s setup guide says the first change alert arrives only after the monitored page actually changes from its starting snapshot. Creating a monitor does not necessarily produce an immediate change email. Check the monitor’s status and schedule, then open the account’s Notifications page to see whether a qualifying event was recorded.

Also confirm the monitor is watching the intended page and the type of change you care about. If the page has not changed in a way the monitor detects, no change alert is expected. See ChangeTower’s guide to creating a first monitor.

3. Verify the monitor’s email setting

Scheduling and email alerts are separate monitor settings. Open the relevant monitor’s Details section and check that email alerts are enabled, as well as confirming its schedule and monitored page. A monitor can be active on a schedule while its email-alert option is turned off.

4. Check access and settings for the intended recipient

If the alert should go to a teammate or shared address, verify that the intended person has the necessary workspace membership or is subscribed to that monitor, and that any invitation was accepted. Each member may also have their own notification-category preferences, so check the recipient’s settings rather than only the monitor owner’s.

ChangeTower’s detailed article about subscribing users to monitors was published on March 30, 2023, and describes team notification management as a premium feature. Plan entitlements and labels may have changed; confirm current availability in your account. Read the team-monitor subscription instructions.

5. Use the in-app notification to narrow down the problem

  • No corresponding event appears in Notifications: revisit the monitor’s schedule, watched page, change type, and email setting. The event may not have occurred or may not have been detected.
  • The event appears in Notifications, but its email is missing: the monitor recorded the event, but that alone does not establish whether an email was generated, rejected, bounced, or filtered. Contact ChangeTower support for account-specific investigation.

This distinction is a diagnostic inference from the in-app Notifications page and the vendor’s support route; it is not proof of where a missing email failed. The public documentation reviewed does not provide delivery logs or confirm particular spam-folder, allowlist, sender-address, SPF/DKIM, or mailbox-provider causes. Ordinary inbox checks may be reasonable general email hygiene, but they are not documented ChangeTower-specific fixes.

6. Contact ChangeTower if the settings look right

If the event is visible in Notifications and the relevant settings are enabled, contact ChangeTower support. Include the monitor or page, the expected change, its approximate check time, the intended recipient, and whether the event appears in Notifications. ChangeTower says it replies to support email within one business day on every plan; that is its stated response target, not a guarantee of resolution time.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API, not a ChangeTower alert-delivery fix. If your separate task is capturing a page as an image, one GET request can do it:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation. It accepts cookie and consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed; its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. These capture features do not troubleshoot ChangeTower email. Learn about ScreenshotNeo or sign up for 1,000 free screenshots a month with no card.
