You can change the email address used to sign in to your Samsung Account either in Galaxy device settings or on the Samsung Account website. Have your account password ready, and make sure you can receive verification messages at the new address. In the website flow, the verification steps depend on whether two-step verification is enabled.
What changing the email address does
Your Samsung Account email is its login ID. Samsung also uses the email ID for notifications and account security management, so changing it updates the address associated with those account functions. Samsung UK explains the email ID’s role.

Before you begin
- Make sure the new email address is valid and can receive mail. You will need to enter a verification code sent to it.
- Have the Samsung Account password available; Samsung’s documented change flows ask you to confirm it.
- For Samsung Canada’s guidance, the current email address must also be able to receive verification before you start. The browser flow differs if two-step verification is enabled.
If you do not remember which Samsung Account you are signed into, confirm it before changing anything. Samsung Canada describes ways to recover a forgotten account ID using an email ID hint or a recovery phone number or email address: Samsung Canada’s account email guidance.

Change the email from a Galaxy device
- Open Settings and tap your Samsung Account profile.
- Open Profile Info and tap Email. Depending on your device and regional menu labels, this may appear as Profile info and an email address under Account ID.
- Verify your Samsung Account password, then choose Change.
- Enter the new email address and submit it.
- Open the new inbox, retrieve the verification code, and enter it when prompted. Samsung says the linked email changes after verification.

Change the email on the Samsung Account website
- Sign in to the Samsung Account website.
- Open Profile, then Manage Samsung account, and select Email ID.
- Follow the verification sequence shown for your account:
- Two-step verification enabled: Enter the new email address, confirm your account password, and enter the code sent to the new address. Samsung Canada says this flow skips verification through the current email.
- Two-step verification not enabled: First verify through the current email address. Then enter the new address, confirm your password, and verify the new address using the code sent there.
Read any precautions displayed before confirming the change. The two-step verification distinction applies to the browser procedure documented by Samsung Canada; use the on-screen prompts if your account presents a different sequence. Samsung Canada’s web procedure.
If the verification code does not arrive
- Check that you entered the new address correctly and that its inbox can receive messages.
- Look in the junk or spam folder.
- Confirm that you are signed in to the Samsung Account you intend to update.
- On the website, follow the verification branch shown for your two-step verification setting.
- If you cannot remember the account ID, use Samsung’s ID hint or recovery phone/email options.
These are practical checks based on Samsung’s verification and recovery process. If the account still cannot be verified, use Samsung’s account support or recovery prompts rather than trying to change the address from a different account.

Why the menus may look different
Samsung’s instructions vary in menu wording, and the screen layout can depend on region, device model, software version, or app version. The steps above reflect Samsung’s published Australia and Canada guidance, with the website verification branches documented by Samsung Canada. Treat the labels as landmarks, not as a universal path; follow the current prompts on your device or account website.
