To change your Samsung Account ID, update the email address linked to your existing account. You can do it in Galaxy Settings or in a browser; the browser’s verification steps depend on whether two-step verification is enabled. This changes the account’s sign-in email, not the account itself or its password.
Before you change the email ID
- Sign in to the Samsung Account you want to keep and have its password ready for confirmation.
- Make sure the new email address is valid and able to receive Samsung’s verification message.
- If two-step verification is off and you plan to use a browser, make sure you can open the current email inbox too; Samsung’s documented flow sends a code there first.
Samsung notes that screens and settings can vary by provider, software version, and device model. Its Australian instructions apply to Australian-variant Galaxy devices, so labels may not match exactly in other regions. See Samsung’s Canada guide and Australia guide for regional details.

Change the ID in Galaxy Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap Samsung account, then Profile info.
- Under Account ID, tap the displayed email address and choose Change.
- Enter the new email address and tap Change.
- Open the new inbox, retrieve Samsung’s verification code, and enter it when prompted.
- Confirm your Samsung Account password, review the new email ID, and finish the change.
On Australian-variant devices, Samsung describes the route as Settings > account profile > Profile Info > Email. The precise labels may differ on other device variants.
Change the ID in a web browser
- Sign in to the Samsung Account website.
- Open Profile > Manage Samsung account > Email ID.
- Follow the branch that matches your two-step verification setting:
When two-step verification is enabled
Enter the new email address, confirm your Samsung Account password, and enter the code sent to the new inbox. Samsung’s Canada guide says this flow skips verification of the current email address.

When two-step verification is not enabled
First enter the code sent to your current email address. Then enter the new address, confirm your account password, and verify the code sent to the new inbox. If you cannot access the current inbox, this documented browser flow may be blocked. Review any precautions shown on screen before completing the change. Samsung’s browser instructions describe both branches.
If you cannot sign in or change the address
Recover a forgotten account ID
If you do not remember which email is your Samsung Account ID, Samsung says you can use an email ID hint or a recovery phone number or email address. In the sign-in flow, look for Find ID. Samsung’s sign-in troubleshooting guide covers recovery and next steps.

Contact Samsung Support if the change is blocked
If you can sign in but cannot change the linked email, Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance directs you to contact Samsung Support. Some sign-in flows may offer text-message verification or backup codes, but availability depends on the account and the options shown on screen; do not assume either is available for an email change.

The account ID is the email address used to sign in. Updating it keeps the task focused on the existing Samsung Account; it is not a request to create a second account or change the password. Samsung’s published instructions cited here do not establish whether changing the email signs out other devices or affects synced services or account data, so do not assume either outcome.
