These are different from the general speaking-rate slider in Accessibility and from Siri’s volume.
Choose a Siri voice or variation
- Open Settings > Siri > Voice.
- Under Variations, select a variation, or choose a voice under Voices.
- Use the options displayed on your iPhone. Apple notes that available choices depend on the Siri version, so the list may differ by device, language, and settings. Apple’s iOS 27 iPhone guide describes the selection path.
Adjust Siri AI Pace and Expressivity
When Siri AI is enabled on a supported iPhone, the Voice screen may provide Voice, Pace, and Expressivity adjustments. Pace changes how quickly Siri speaks; Expressivity changes vocal delivery. Apple currently documents these adjustments for American and British voices, so they may not appear for other voice varieties. See Apple’s Siri settings guide.

- Adjust Pace and Expressivity if those controls appear.
Siri AI is a beta feature, not a capability on every iPhone running iOS 27. Availability depends on supported hardware, language, and eligible region. Apple’s current requirements list iPhone 15 Pro models and later, iPhone 16 models or later, and iPhone Air; Expressive Voices also have hardware-specific requirements. Siri AI is initially available in English and is not initially available in the EU on iOS. Check Apple’s Siri AI setup guidance and its current device and feature requirements, published September 22, 2026, if the controls are missing.

The Accessibility Speaking Rate slider is separate from Siri AI’s Pace control. To change the general rate, open Settings > Accessibility > Siri and adjust Speaking Rate. Apple says iOS 27 also adds Siri Pause Time choices: Default, Longer, and Longest. Pause Time changes how long Siri waits; it does not select a voice or adjust expressivity. Apple says the speaking-rate setting on iPhone and iPad also affects paired Apple Watch and CarPlay. Details are in Apple’s volume and speaking-rate guide.

Change Siri’s volume
Volume controls loudness, not voice, pace, or expressivity. To adjust it, use the iPhone or headphone volume controls while Siri is speaking, as described in Apple’s guidance.
