Konami says Rose can swing it across areas, uncover hidden rooms, reach places that were previously inaccessible, and strike enemies from unconventional positions. That is a useful way to understand the combat concept without assuming that every enemy can be handled the same way. The whip is the defining tool, but official PlayStation product information lists seven weapon categories and equipment customization. Relics
Konami and PlayStation describe Relics as equipment that can trigger offensive or defensive effects. The hands-on report says Rose can equip up to three and identifies Crypt Key as an example. The three-Relic loadout and that example are preview-level details; the official summaries confirm the system and effect categories, but do not state a universal loadout limit or say that every Relic behaves like Crypt Key.

The official product information says defeated bosses are sealed into Rose’s tarot cards as Arcana. Their skills can be used for spells and unique special actions. This gives boss victories a stated connection to Rose’s available abilities, although the sources do not list the full boss roster, all Arcana, or the exact conditions for using each skill.
The hands-on report separately says mana can be recovered by defeating enemies and spent on spells or healing. That resource loop is preview reporting rather than a detail established by the official summaries. The available sources do not give a mana capacity, recovery amount, spell costs, or healing values, so those should not be inferred from the general description.

Is Belmont’s Curse a roguelike?
The safest answer is that the official framing is 2D action-exploration, not roguelike. The July hands-on report specifically says the previewed game avoids roguelite conventions such as permadeath and procedurally generated levels. That makes the preview sound more like exploration through a designed map than a run-based game built around those systems. Because the report is a hands-on preview, it should be read as evidence about the build described rather than a definitive catalog of every final-game rule.
