A useful Casio-and-Timex starter collection can pair a slim digital everyday watch with an easy-to-read analog watch, then add a rugged digital option if the exact models fit your budget. The key caveat: the available US price information confirms Timex Easy Reader models at $69–$91 when checked on October 7, 2026, but does not establish current prices for the Casio choices. So this is a practical shortlist—not a verified under-$300 checkout total.
What should a compact Casio and Timex collection cover?
Think in terms of different jobs, not a pile of interchangeable watches. A simple three-watch rotation could include a lightweight digital watch for daily wear, an analog watch with an at-a-glance dial, and a more rugged digital model for days when you want that style or need to check its specific durability and water-use rating.

Casio F-91W: lightweight digital everyday option
The F-91W is the compact digital pick. Casio lists it at 8.5 mm thick and 21 g, with an alarm, stopwatch, calendar, LED light, and approximately seven years of battery life. Casio describes the design as largely unchanged since its 1989 introduction. These are manufacturer specifications and history, not independent performance testing. Casio’s F-91W overview does not show a current US retail price.

- Micro Light, Hourly Time Signal, Auto Calendar
- 12/24 Hour Formats
- Dial Code: Digital
- Water Resistant
- Daily Alarm
Casio’s general water-resistance wording on that overview should not be treated as a depth rating or as clearance for a particular water activity. Check the watch’s model-specific instructions for the use you have in mind.
Timex Easy Reader: analog dial designed for legibility
The Easy Reader fills the analog role. Timex describes its large Arabic numerals and bold, high-contrast hands as features intended to make the time easy to read. Timex says the line first launched in 1977; that date is the company’s own history claim. The Timex US Easy Reader collection displayed models from $69 to $91 when checked on October 7, 2026. That is a time-sensitive collection-page range, not a guaranteed price for a particular model; variants differ, and stock varied by item.

- Serious Performance: A 100-hour chronograph tracks lap and split times, plus a 24-hour countdown timer and a month, day and date calendar for everyday training
- Everyday Alarms: Three daily, weekday, or weekend alarms with a 5-minute backup, 24-hour military time mode, and two time zones keep you on schedule
- Night-Ready Visibility: An acrylic lens and INDIGLO light-up dial keep the gray digital display easy to read from dawn to dusk and after dark
- Built to Last: A Timex watch is designed for durability and everyday reliability; every piece reflects our commitment to quality without compromise
Choose the exact Easy Reader by checking its case size, band, and dial configuration rather than assuming every watch in the collection is identical.

Casio G-SHOCK DW5600E-1V: rugged-style digital candidate
Casio’s US casual-watch page points people starting with a casual digital watch toward the DW5600E-1V or GMS5600PG-1. That makes the DW5600E-1V a candidate for a third, more rugged-style slot, but the category page does not provide a full model-to-model comparison or a captured price. Check the specific watch’s dimensions, fit, features, water-use rating, and current price before treating it as the right choice. Casio G-SHOCK’s casual-watch page is the source for those suggested starter models.
Rank #3
- Impressive 10-Year Battery Life: Powered by a CR2025 battery, this watch delivers a decade of reliable performance, making it a low-maintenance timepiece for your daily life.

- Multi-Function Alarm & Auto Calendar: Stay organized with an hourly time signal, multi-function alarm (including a snooze option), and a full auto-calendar preprogrammed until 2099.
How do the three roles compare?
| Role | Candidate | What the available information establishes | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightweight digital | Casio F-91W | 8.5 mm thick, 21 g, alarm, stopwatch, calendar, LED light, and approximately seven-year battery life, according to Casio. | Current US price; model-specific guidance for water use. |
| Readable analog | Timex Easy Reader | Large Arabic numerals and bold, high-contrast hands; US collection displayed $69–$91 on October 7, 2026. | Exact variant, size, band, stock, and live price. |
| Rugged-style digital | Casio G-SHOCK DW5600E-1V | Casio names it as a casual digital starter option, alongside the GMS5600PG-1. | Model-specific specifications, fit, water-use rating, and live price. |
Can you confirm a total under $300?
Not from the prices established here. The Timex collection’s observed $69–$91 range leaves $209–$231 of a $300 budget before tax and shipping, depending on which Easy Reader is chosen. But that arithmetic is only a remaining-budget guide: no current US price was captured for the F-91W or DW5600E-1V, and the Timex range is not a quote for a selected SKU. Do not count a three-watch cart as under $300 until you check the exact models and add their live prices.
For a tighter budget, start with two roles—one Casio digital and one Easy Reader—then price the rugged-style option as an optional third purchase. Keep the currency and region consistent, and account for tax and shipping at checkout.

- Fit: Compare case dimensions and weight, and check the band or bracelet on the exact variant.
- Water use: Match the model-specific rating and instructions to the activities you plan; do not infer a suitable depth or activity from a generic label.
