If Tinder will not add or save a photo, first check Photos and Camera permissions, switch networks, update the app, and try a different photo saved locally. If the mobile app still fails, use Tinder.com, sign out and back in, then reinstall Tinder—the company’s recommended fix when profile changes do not stick. A rejected image, a hidden profile, or a request for a video selfie is a different problem from a broken upload.
Use this quick fix sequence
- Give Tinder access to your photo library and, if needed, your camera.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Temporarily disable a VPN or leave an unstable public network.
- Force-close Tinder, reopen it, and install any App Store or Google Play update.
- Try a clear photo that is already downloaded to the phone. Testing another image shows whether the problem is image-specific.
- Sign in at Tinder.com and try editing your profile there.
- Log out and back in.
- If changes still disappear, delete and reinstall Tinder. This does not delete your Tinder account, but make sure you know how you normally sign in first.
- If none of this works, contact Tinder Support with the details listed below.
Tinder advises using a strong connection and reinstalling when profile updates, including photos, fail to save. Its profile-update guidance also treats reinstalling as a refresh, not a guarantee.
Identify what is actually failing

How to add or replace a Tinder photo
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon.
- Open Edit Profile or the photo-editing area. Tinder can change labels and layout by platform and account version.
- Tap an empty photo slot or the control to add or change a photo.
- Choose an image or take a new one, then confirm or save.
- Reopen your profile to verify that the photo remains.
Tinder’s Photo Selector documentation covers selecting a photo during signup and when adding a profile photo. You remain responsible for the final image you choose.
Check permissions
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings → Apps → Tinder → Photos.
- Choose an access level that includes the intended image. Limited access can hide photos that Tinder is not allowed to see.
- If you are taking a picture, enable Camera on the same Tinder settings page.
- Reopen Tinder and try again.
Menu wording can vary across iOS releases. Tinder says photo-library and camera access may be required and can later be removed in device settings. See Tinder’s explanation of Photo Selector permissions.

Android
- Open Settings → Apps → Tinder → Permissions.
- Allow Photos and videos, or the equivalent media permission on your phone.
- Allow Camera if you are taking a new picture.
- Reopen Tinder after changing the permissions.
Android manufacturers use different labels; an older phone may show a storage-related name instead.
Rule out an image-specific problem
Use a clear, ordinary photo that is saved on the device rather than still in cloud storage. A freshly saved copy or screenshot can be useful for diagnosis, although it may not be the best final profile image. If one picture uploads and another does not, the failure is probably tied to that file or its download state.

Tinder does not publish one universal current maximum file size, pixel dimension, or format limit in the cited guidance. Do not rely on online claims about a specific “correct” resolution; test another normal image instead.
When Tinder rejects a photo
An image can upload successfully and still be removed under Tinder’s rules. The Terms of Use prohibit categories including illegal or exploitative material, harassment or impersonation, personal contact details, banking information, and peer-to-peer payment information. Do not repeatedly submit the same image if Tinder is actively rejecting it. Choose a genuine, clear photo and contact support if the removal appears mistaken.

Why a profile can be hidden after a photo upload
Tinder says face-photo requirements apply in many regions and are rolling out to more countries. Requirements can also affect you when traveling. A profile may remain hidden when Tinder cannot clearly detect a valid face photo; that is not the same as a ban or a failed upload.
Use a well-lit, close-up image with your full face visible. Remove masks, hands, phones, or other obstructions. If you meet those conditions and the profile is still hidden, use Tinder’s hidden-profile guidance and contact support. Tinder says legitimate religious and safety-related exceptions may be considered through support.

If Tinder asks for Photo Verification or Photo Check
Photo Verification
Open your profile, tap the gray checkmark beside your name, choose Get Verified, allow camera access, and follow the video-selfie prompts. Tinder lists an obscured face, poor lighting, an unclear video, an insufficiently prominent face, or a mismatch with profile photos as common problems. The verification badge is not a guarantee that another person is authentic or safe. Photo Verification instructions
Photo Check
Tinder may require Photo Check after unusual activity or an automated safety review. It can require a clear solo face photo that matches the video selfie before normal use resumes. Follow the on-screen process in good lighting and keep your face unobscured. Tinder explains Photo Check and its data practices here.

These verification systems have different purposes and data practices from the ordinary Photo Selector. Tinder says Photo Selector processes selection on the device and collects the photos you ultimately choose to upload; do not assume that statement applies identically to Photo Check.
Use Tinder.com as a diagnostic
Open Tinder.com in a supported browser, sign in to the same account, open the profile-editing controls, and try the upload. Tinder recommends its web version as an alternative when mobile functionality has problems. The browser may expose different controls and cannot bypass an account restriction, moderation decision, or a device permission problem.
Contact Tinder Support with useful evidence
Submit a request at https://www.help.tinder.com/hc/en-us/requests/new after trying the basic steps. Include:
- Your device model and iOS or Android version.
- Your Tinder app version, if available.
- Whether the failure occurs in the app, Tinder.com, or both.
- The exact error text and the approximate date and time.
- Which permissions, network changes, sign-out, update, or reinstall steps you tried.
- A screenshot or short screen recording, with unrelated personal information and login codes redacted.
Do not create a replacement account, upload someone else’s photo, or alter an image to bypass verification. Reinstalling Tinder is different from deleting your account, and deleting the account is not an appropriate first troubleshooting step.
