It supports common phone and computer printing options and can produce vibrant color documents and detailed photos, but it prints only one side at a time, has a small paper tray, and uses cartridges with low estimated yields. If you print lightly and value a basic all-in-one, it may fit; if you print often, its ink costs and manual handling are likely to outweigh its low-end convenience.
What the PIXMA TS3720 does
Canon positions the TS3720 as an everyday home inkjet. It prints, copies, and scans, with Wi-Fi, USB, and Wireless Direct connections. Supported mobile and device options include Canon PRINT, Apple AirPrint, Mopria, and Chromebook compatibility. Canon lists 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands. Its TS3700-series manual index includes setup, network, printing, scanning, cartridge, and maintenance guidance.

The printer is simplex-only: it cannot automatically print on both sides of a sheet. The rear tray holds up to 60 sheets of plain letter paper or 20 sheets of 4 x 6-inch photo paper. Canon’s manufacturer-rated print speeds are approximately 7.7 black and 4.0 color images per minute; RTINGS describes its tested speed as slow. These figures suit short household jobs better than a queue of forms, assignments, or office paperwork.

Print, copy, and scan limitations
Single-sided printing
For a double-sided document, you must turn and reload the pages yourself. That adds time and creates more room for page-order mistakes than a printer with automatic duplexing.

Flatbed scanning
The scanner is a flatbed without an automatic document feeder, so multi-page originals must be placed on the glass one at a time. RTINGS also reports that document-scan processing can overexpose colors and remove background and fine details. Its review says photo scan settings retain more color and background detail, but can add paper grain. Canon lists an optical scan resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi.
Paper handling
The 60-sheet plain-paper capacity means more frequent reloading than on higher-capacity printers. Canon lists letter, legal, 4 x 6-inch, 5 x 7-inch, and 5 x 5-inch square formats. Its product materials specify plain paper from 64–105 gsm and approximately 275 gsm maximum for Canon PP-301 photo media. Canon identifies glossy, magnetic, and restickable photo papers as supported media; that compatibility does not establish results for every third-party paper.
Photo printing: useful formats, mixed expectations
The TS3720 supports borderless photo printing up to 5 x 7 inches, making it suitable for small prints at home. RTINGS found its photos detailed and vibrant, while noting they looked noticeably different from the originals. Treat photo capability as a convenience for occasional prints, not a promise of identical color reproduction across images and paper types.

Ink yield and the real ownership trade-off
The printer uses two cartridges: PG-275 pigment black and CL-276 dye color. Canon also lists higher-yield PG-275XL and CL-276XL versions, which RTINGS confirms are compatible. Canon’s estimated yields are up to 100 black-and-white pages and up to 100 color pages for standard cartridges, or up to 300 pages for each XL cartridge. These are estimates based on Canon’s test method and a standard test chart—not guaranteed household page counts. Actual yield and cost depend on content and other factors.
RTINGS identifies very low yields and high cost per print as significant drawbacks. XL cartridges provide more listed capacity but require a higher upfront outlay; without current, comparable cartridge prices, a specific saving or per-page cost cannot be established. For frequent printing, recurring ink expense is the main reason to look beyond this model.
Setup and device compatibility
Canon’s cableless setup requires a smart device with Canon PRINT installed and connected to the Wi-Fi network you intend the printer to use. Canon also lists USB, Wireless Direct, AirPrint, Mopria, and Chromebook support. Wireless performance can vary with distance and terrain between the printer and network clients, so compatibility does not guarantee identical connection quality in every home.

Who should buy the TS3720?
A reasonable fit
- Households that print occasionally and want print, copy, and scan in one device.
- Students or home users who need short documents, forms, and some small photo prints.
- People who value wireless and mobile printing more than automatic duplexing, fast output, or high capacity.
Look elsewhere if
- You print often and want higher page yields or lower recurring ink costs.
- You regularly produce double-sided jobs and do not want to flip pages manually.
- You scan multi-page or double-sided documents; a flatbed-only scanner makes those tasks labor-intensive.
- You need a faster printer or a tray that can hold more paper between refills.
For a competing model, compare purchase price alongside replacement-ink yield and price, automatic duplexing, feeder-equipped scanning, speed, paper capacity, and photo performance. The evidence here does not establish a specific alternative as the better buy for every household.
