Download BlueStacks from its official website, then run the installer and complete setup. Before you begin, check your Windows version, available memory and storage, and whether Hyper-V is enabled; these determine which requirements and compatibility guidance apply.
Check whether your Windows 10 PC meets the requirements
BlueStacks Support lists separate minimum and recommended specifications for BlueStacks 5. The minimums are a starting point, not a promise of smooth performance. In particular, free disk space is not a substitute for RAM.

| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | Windows 7 or later | Windows 10 or later |
| Processor | Intel or AMD processor | Multicore Intel or AMD CPU with a single-thread benchmark score greater than 1000 |
| Memory | At least 4 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM or more |
| Storage | At least 5 GB of free disk space | SSD or hybrid storage |
| Graphics | Current graphics drivers from Microsoft or the chipset vendor | Graphics benchmark score of at least 750, with current drivers |
| Other | Administrator access | Virtualization enabled and broadband internet |
The benchmark thresholds are BlueStacks’ published recommendations, not universal guarantees of performance. BlueStacks also cautions that other virtual-machine software on the same system may affect performance. These general requirements come from BlueStacks Support’s system requirements.

Run the installer and finish setup
- Open the downloaded installer. If Windows asks for administrator permission, approve it only if you obtained the file from the official BlueStacks website.
- Follow the installer’s on-screen instructions to complete installation. The exact prompts may vary by system.
- After installation finishes, BlueStacks launches, according to the official installation guide.
What to check if Hyper-V is enabled
Hyper-V changes which system requirements apply. BlueStacks says version 5.20 and later can run with Hyper-V either enabled or disabled. On a Hyper-V-enabled PC, its stated requirements include Windows 10 version 1903 or later, at least 4 GB RAM, 5 GB free disk space, administrator access, updated graphics drivers, Hyper-V enabled, and membership in the Hyper-V Administrators group.
| Configuration | What to check | Download path |
|---|---|---|
| Hyper-V disabled | Meet the general BlueStacks 5 requirements. | Download from the official site and run the installer. |
| Hyper-V enabled | Use Windows 10 version 1903 or later and meet the Hyper-V-specific requirements, including Hyper-V Administrators group membership. | BlueStacks says its website detects Hyper-V and selects a compatible version. |
See BlueStacks’ Hyper-V instructions for the applicable setup details.

Fix a Windows-version compatibility error
If an installer or BlueStacks reports that your Windows version is incompatible, check both your Windows version and the BlueStacks build before trying another installer. BlueStacks’ compatibility guidance says versions 5.21.301 and later require Windows 10 or newer; it suggests version 5.21.300 for older systems. This is version-specific guidance and may change, so consult the current compatibility support article before using an older build. BlueStacks notes that Windows 7 and Windows 8 users can use versions 5.21.300 and below, while the latest features require Windows 10 or later.

Download safety
Stick to the official BlueStacks website rather than third-party installer sites. BlueStacks states that downloads from official sources such as its website do not contain malware or malicious programs; that is the publisher’s claim, not an independent security audit. If you downloaded an installer elsewhere, delete it and obtain a fresh copy from the official site.
