No—not as a broadband-only service. Sky Q needs a working satellite dish feed for TV reception; Wi-Fi or broadband does not replace it. If you have no private dish, your building may provide a communal satellite feed. If you have no satellite feed at all, look at a separate dishless Sky service such as Sky Stream rather than expecting your Sky Q box to work over Wi-Fi alone.
What the satellite dish and broadband each do
Sky Q uses the satellite feed for its live TV service. Sky’s setup instructions tell you to connect the dish cable or cables to the Sky Q box, and the Sky Q 2TB model specification lists two satellite input F-connectors. No private dish does not always mean no satellite feed
Some apartment buildings and other shared properties have a communal satellite system. In that case, you may not see a dish attached to your home, but a satellite feed can still reach the Sky Q box through the building’s wiring. Ask the landlord, building manager or installer whether a compatible feed is available and where its outlet is. A Wi-Fi connection alone is not that feed.

What works if you have a dish feed but no broadband?
Sky’s support guidance distinguishes between a box that has never connected to broadband and one that was connected but has since lost it. In both cases the dish feed must still be working for satellite TV. The precise connected features and content available vary by state, so do not assume a particular app or on-demand programme will work offline. Sky says live TV and recordings are available from the main box’s TV service. Many connected areas and features are unavailable, including online on-demand selections and other services listed in Sky’s support guidance.

Main Sky Q box that has lost broadband
Some features may remain available in limited form. Sky lists a limited selection of Catch Up TV, My Q and Sky Cinema content via satellite; other on-demand services are unavailable. Availability is not a promise that a particular title or app will play without internet.

A Mini is not a standalone dishless receiver. Sky says a Mini that has never connected to broadband cannot watch TV or use services. If it was connected before broadband was lost, some functions may be limited; consult Sky’s feature list for the specific restrictions.

Sky Go
Sky Go is a separate case from using the Sky Q box. Sky says the app needs to have connected to a Sky Q box while broadband was active to enable its features. If that setup has already happened, some live TV, radio, recordings and previously saved content may remain available without internet, subject to Sky’s conditions.
What to do if you have no satellite feed
- Check for a communal feed. If you live in a shared building, ask whether its satellite system provides a compatible connection for Sky Q.
- If a feed exists but the box is not receiving it, check the connection and contact your landlord, building manager, installer or Sky support as appropriate. A replacement satellite cable may help repair an existing feed connection, but it cannot create a feed where none exists.
- If there is no feed, consider a different service. Sky Stream is identified in Sky Community guidance as a broadband-based Sky product, separate from Sky Q; Sky Glass is also described there as a dishless product family. Check Sky’s current availability, package terms and broadband requirements before choosing either. They are not settings that turn a Sky Q box into a broadband-only receiver. Sky Community discussion
Can a cable, Wi-Fi adapter or Mini box replace the dish?
No. A satellite cable is useful only when it connects the Sky Q box to an existing private or communal satellite feed. Sky’s 2TB specification identifies the satellite input connectors on that model, but a cable cannot replace the antenna and feed that supply the signal. Wi-Fi supports connected services, and a Mini extends the Sky Q setup; neither makes the main box dishless. Sky’s Sky Q setup instructions Sky Q 2TB specifications
