Yes, sometimes—but distinguish storage from wireless transfer. A compatible camera or card reader may still access an Eye-Fi card as ordinary SD storage. That does not mean the card’s Wi-Fi transfer, apps, registration, or cloud services still work. Eye-Fi announced in 2016 that services relied on by specified legacy products would shut down, so identify your card generation and camera model before relying on any old setup instructions.
What happened to Eye-Fi service?
In a June 30, 2016 customer notice, Eye-Fi said it would stop supporting specified legacy product lines and that key services used by affected cards would shut down on September 16, 2016. The notice addressed Eye-Fi X2 and earlier-generation customers and cited technological obsolescence and security concerns around older technologies.

Can you still use an Eye-Fi card?
Possibly as removable storage: Doxie says an Eye-Fi card can be connected to a computer as a regular SD card to retrieve files. Whether a particular card can be read depends on the card, host device, and their compatibility. Wired access to files is different from transferring them wirelessly, and does not restore Eye-Fi service.
If your goal is simply to copy photos, a compatible USB SD card reader is one practical option when your computer has no SD slot. It provides a wired way to access the card; it does not reactivate Wi-Fi features.

Will an Eye-Fi card work with your camera?
There is no universal compatibility list established here. Check the exact camera manual and any manufacturer notice that names your camera and card generation. A camera’s ability to accept an SD card does not by itself confirm that it supports Eye-Fi wireless functions.
Check the camera’s own documentation
Nikon’s D800 manual and documentation discuss supported Eye-Fi cards and firmware for that specific camera. Those instructions are historical and model-specific; do not apply them automatically to other Nikon cameras or other brands.

Check whether a manufacturer notice names your model
Canon’s U.S. service notice concerns a reported interaction involving Eye-Fi cards with “X2” in the product name. It covers specified cameras when their SD-card doors are opened and the card is removed promptly. Canon says affected cameras will be inspected and repaired free for residents of the United States and Puerto Rico; removing and reinserting the battery is a temporary workaround if a covered camera is not operating normally. This notice is limited to its listed models, issue, and geography.
Can you set up an old Eye-Fi card now?
Do not assume that an old app or setup guide will still work. The legacy notice documents the discontinued support and service shutdown, but does not establish a working current registration or configuration flow for any particular card, phone, computer, or operating system. Look up the documentation for your exact card and treat unverified legacy app instructions as archival rather than a dependable current procedure.

How can you get photos off an old card?
Doxie says the original Doxie Go can still scan without Eye-Fi wireless transfer. Its support guidance describes two file-retrieval routes: connect the scanner by USB to retrieve scans from internal memory, or connect the Eye-Fi card to a computer as a regular SD card. The card-reader route is a wired retrieval method, not a way to restore wireless transfer.

Quick Recap
Which route makes sense?
| Your goal | Best-supported approach | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Occasionally copy existing photos | Try wired access as ordinary SD storage, as described by Doxie for its scanner. | Confirm the card, camera or computer, and reader are compatible. Doxie’s guidance is specific to its use case. |
| Restore automatic wireless sending | Do not rely on an old app, registration, or cloud workflow without current confirmation for the exact card. | Identify the generation and check its documentation; the 2016 exception for certain Mobi and Mobi Pro products does not prove current availability. |
| Resolve a camera-specific problem | Use the camera manufacturer’s exact manual or service notice. | Match the camera model, card generation, issue, and region named in the notice. |
