Unofficial PS5 emulator projects make compatibility claims, but dependable support for commercial games is not established here.
Three ways to play PlayStation games on a PC

Official PC ports: the way to run supported games locally
Sony lists its available PlayStation PC games and says they can be purchased through retailers including Steam and Epic Games. Check the individual game listing: not every PS5 game has a PC edition, and system requirements and availability are title-specific.

Do you have to buy the game again on PC?
Usually, a PS5 purchase does not grant access to the PC edition. Sony says the PC and console versions of PlayStation Studios games are “different products.” A PC edition must be acquired separately where one is available.

Sony says saves currently cannot transfer between PlayStation Studios PC and console versions. Do not assume progress on one edition will carry over to the other.

Controllers and input
PlayStation Studios PC games support mouse, keyboard, and other controllers. Sony says DualSense can be used with these games over a wired connection; wireless connectivity and DualSense-specific features vary by game. Controller support is not a reason to assume every title offers the same features.
PS Remote Play: stream from your own console
Remote Play sends video and audio from a PS5 or PS4 to a compatible computer over a network. The game is running on the console, not natively on the PC, and a console is required. Sony calls for at least 5 Mbps broadband and recommends 15 Mbps or higher for a better experience; actual quality and connectivity depend on the network environment. Its troubleshooting guidance specifies a 5 Mbps minimum for both upload and download.

Set up Remote Play on a PC or Mac
- Confirm you have a PS5 or PS4, a PlayStation account, and a suitable network connection.
- Check Sony’s current PC and Mac setup requirements. The listed client systems include Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11, and macOS Big Sur through Tahoe; supported systems can change.
- Install the PS Remote Play app using Sony’s instructions, then follow the app prompts to connect to your console and start streaming.
- Connect a supported controller if you want one. Sony lists DualSense, DualSense Edge, and DUALSHOCK 4 for PC or Mac Remote Play.
Games and features Remote Play does not support
Remote Play is not compatible with every game. PlayStation says games requiring PS VR, PS VR2, or PlayStation Camera are incompatible, and some other games do not support Remote Play either. Some unofficial projects describe themselves as PS5 emulators for PC or Mac and ask users to provide firmware and games they legally own. That is the project’s own description, not independent proof that current commercial PS5 games work reliably or across a broad library. Without current, independent, game-by-game evidence, emulator compatibility, performance, and ease of setup should not be treated as established.

Sony’s PlayStation Software Application End User License Agreement lists “(d) emulate the Software;” among prohibited uses and separately prohibits bypassing encryption, security, or authentication mechanisms. Sony’s PS5 system software license also restricts reverse engineering and unauthorized or modified software and hardware. These are Sony’s contractual terms, not a universal statement of the law in every jurisdiction; laws and applicable terms can differ.

Sony’s cloud-streaming information describes select PS5 games streaming to PS5 consoles and PlayStation Portal with PlayStation Plus Premium in listed countries. It does not identify PC as a cloud-streaming destination. Remote Play is the PC route described here, and it streams from your own PS5 or PS4.
