Nearby wireless play is not supported
Despite the wording “Play with Nearby People,” that mode is local play on a single console, not wireless communication between multiple nearby consoles. Nintendo documents LAN Play separately as a wired network setup. Its US instructions specify the console and player limits above, but do not establish that every LAN setup works with internet service disconnected; do not rely on LAN Play as a confirmed internet-free option.
