GoldenEye 007 Plus documents a third-person gameplay feature for PC, but the available project information does not establish a finished, ready-to-install build. A separate native PC port of the original game is available in a documented v0.4.0 release, but its README does not describe a selectable third-person gameplay camera. The two projects should not be confused.
What “third-person GoldenEye on PC” means
There are two different community projects behind this claim. GoldenEye 007 Plus is a modification whose development repository lists third-person gameplay with adjustable camera and crosshair tuning. The native GoldenEye PC port reconstructs the original Nintendo 64 game for PC; its mention of Bond’s third-person model positioning refers to how the player character is rendered, not to a third-person gameplay mode.
GoldenEye 007 was originally released for Nintendo 64 in 1997. The GoldenEye Depot lists 20 single-player levels and multiplayer for 2–4 players, and records the decompilation milestone as 2026-08-17: The GoldenEye Depot.
How the two PC projects differ
| Project | Third-person gameplay | Platforms and game requirement | Documented status |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoldenEye 007 Plus | Its repository describes third-person gameplay with adjustable camera and crosshair tuning. | Supported PC operating systems, installation steps, and a user-facing build are not stated in the reviewed project information. | R22-derived development tree through internal checkpoint V90, dated 2026-09-28. This is a source-tree snapshot, not proof of a finished release. |
| Native GoldenEye PC port | A selectable third-person gameplay camera is not documented. The README’s third-person reference concerns Bond’s model positioning. | Windows and Linux x86-64, including Steam Deck; requires a user-supplied supported NTSC-U ROM. | Version 0.4.0, dated 2026-09-28; pre-1.0. |
The project descriptions are not independent test results. They also do not provide a like-for-like basis for comparing image quality or performance.

What the native PC port offers
The port’s README says all 20 solo missions are playable end to end at a steady 60 fps, and describes support for keyboard and mouse plus a modern dual-stick controller layout. These are developer-reported claims, not independently measured benchmarks. The README and release details are available in the GoldenEye 007 PC Port README.
The port does not include the game ROM or game assets. Its quick start requires the user to supply an NTSC-U (US) Nintendo 64 ROM in .z64 format and place it in the specified data folder before launching the executable. The project lists PAL and Japanese ROM support as roadmap items, so those versions should not be assumed to work in v0.4.0.

- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Controls and accessories
A controller is optional: the port documents keyboard-and-mouse support as well as dual-stick controls. A compatible USB PC game controller may suit players who prefer analog sticks. The project says rumble-pak vibration works with supported pads but does not identify a tested retail controller model.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Can you install GoldenEye 007 Plus for third-person play?
The repository describes the feature and related work on cutscene handoffs and projectile, beam, and tracer alignment. However, the reviewed project page does not provide an end-user PC release, installation procedure, supported PC operating systems, or exact camera options. It also does not independently validate how the camera behaves in play. That leaves an important practical gap: the feature is documented in development material, but a reproducible PC installation route is not established.

In short, the third-person claim belongs to GoldenEye 007 Plus, not to the separately documented native PC port. The port has a clearer published setup path, but that is not evidence that it offers the Plus modification’s gameplay camera.
