There is no verified Steam Frame pairing procedure for PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers in the official documentation reviewed. Sony’s published pairing steps are for a Windows PC, while Valve’s Steam Frame controller information describes Frame Controllers and input bindings—not PSVR 2 controller pairing or tracking.
What is—and is not—confirmed
Valve documents Steam Frame’s own Frame Controllers. SteamVR uses a Frame Controller binding by default; if one is unavailable, it checks for an OpenXR Generic Controller binding and then an Oculus Touch binding, remapping those layouts to Frame Controllers. Sony’s pairing steps are for Windows PC
If you are setting up PSVR 2 on a compatible Windows PC—not Steam Frame—Sony’s documented sequence is:
- Install Steam, SteamVR, and the PlayStation VR2 App on the Windows PC.
- On the left Sense controller, hold the PS button and Create button until the status indicator blinks. On the right controller, hold PS and Options until its indicator blinks.
- Open Windows Bluetooth settings, search for each controller, and select it to complete pairing.
- Keep the PlayStation VR2 App installed after setup. If you encounter connection or tracking problems, Sony notes that Bluetooth performance may depend on the adapter and surrounding environment.
Sony’s manual introduces this as pairing a PS VR2 Sense controller and directs users to Windows Bluetooth settings; it is not a Steam Frame workflow. Sony’s PSVR 2 PC setup instructions

What PSVR 2 on Steam requires
Sony lists the PSVR 2 headset, Sense controllers, PSVR 2 PC Adapter, Steam, SteamVR, and the PlayStation VR2 App for PSVR 2 use on Steam. A Bluetooth adapter is needed only when the PC lacks Bluetooth. Sony also warns that Bluetooth connection or tracking issues can depend on the Bluetooth devices in use or the surrounding environment. Pairing a controller over Bluetooth and having a VR system recognize and track it are separate capabilities. Sony’s Windows instructions explain how to pair Sense controllers to a PC. Valve’s binding documentation explains how supported input layouts map to Frame Controllers. Neither source confirms the combination needed for PSVR 2 Sense controllers to work as tracked controllers on Steam Frame.

What remains unknown
The official sources cited here do not say whether a future Steam Frame software update will add direct PSVR 2 Sense pairing and tracking, or whether a community workaround exists. Do not treat Windows setup directions, SteamVR binding fallbacks, or generic Bluetooth pairing as proof of Steam Frame support. Check current Valve documentation for any later compatibility announcement.
