Creators in India can earn from an eligible YouTube live stream, including a continuous podcast stream, but reaching the relevant YouTube Partner Program (YPP) threshold does not guarantee acceptance or ad delivery. Your channel must qualify for the feature you want, pass YouTube’s review, follow its monetization policies and enable the relevant monetization option. A 24/7 stream also has an important archive risk: YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Which YouTube monetization route can a continuous stream use?
YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships among the ways creators may earn from live streams. The eligibility requirements and setup are not identical for every feature. In particular, access to some fan-funding features can begin at an earlier YPP tier than access to ad and YouTube Premium revenue.

India is included in YouTube’s expanded YPP availability. These are eligibility thresholds, not a promise of acceptance or a forecast of earnings. YouTube also requires program conditions to be met; for full monetization, that includes linking an AdSense for YouTube account and accepting the applicable monetization terms. What must be enabled for ads on a live stream?
For ad and YouTube Premium revenue on live streams watched on YouTube’s Watch Page or embedded in the YouTube player, the channel must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. Monetization must also be enabled for the live stream. YouTube decides whether an ad slot serves, taking account of viewer experience, creator earnings and advertiser values; enabling monetization does not mean every viewer will see an ad. Other live revenue options, such as Super Chat, Super Stickers and memberships, have their own eligibility and setup conditions. Requirements can vary by feature, location, age and channel status, so check the current YPP feature settings for your account rather than assuming that qualifying for one feature qualifies you for all of them.

Do continuous-stream watch hours count toward YPP?
They can count toward the 4,000-hour route only when the livestream is public and converted to a public VOD. Watch hours from unlisted or deleted streams, or streams that are not converted to VOD, do not count toward that threshold. A continuous stream therefore creates a practical risk: the broadcast may generate viewing while live but fail to leave a qualifying public archive.
Will YouTube archive a 24/7 podcast stream?
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a full continuous broadcast. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its guidance recommends keeping a local recording backup. See Archive live streams.

If qualifying public watch hours are part of your plan, design the broadcast and archive workflow around this limit. A separate local recording gives you a copy to manage independently; it does not itself make the livestream’s hours eligible. Eligibility depends on the stream being public and converted to VOD under YouTube’s rules.

There is no automatic approval simply because the material is a podcast or because it is broadcast live. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams and are assessed at the channel level. Its July 15, 2025 policy update clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under the inauthentic-content policy; reused content is a separate review area. A stream that repeatedly plays substantially identical material may therefore raise policy concerns. Make the programming meaningfully original and varied, and do not treat any particular loop format as guaranteed to pass review. Read YouTube channel monetization policies.

What earnings should an India-based creator expect?
YouTube’s eligibility guidance does not establish a fixed India-specific payout or a reliable expected income for a continuous podcast stream. Actual revenue cannot be inferred from subscriber or watch-hour thresholds: ad slots may not serve, and eligibility alone does not establish how much a stream will earn.
