Potentially, but owning the videos does not guarantee that a 24/7 YouTube stream will be approved for monetization or earn money. Your channel must qualify for the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), pass YouTube’s channel-level originality and authenticity review, have the necessary rights to everything in the stream, and meet the requirements for each revenue feature you use. YouTube’s published guidance does not categorically approve or ban every continuous loop of a creator’s own videos.
What determines whether your 24/7 stream can be monetized?
There are several separate gates. Passing one does not automatically pass the others:
- YPP eligibility: Your channel must meet the relevant program requirements and be accepted after review.
- Content review: YouTube assesses whether the channel’s content is original and authentic rather than repetitive, generic, or mass-produced.
- Rights: You need the necessary permissions for every part of the stream, including music and other third-party material embedded in videos you made.
- Feature and module access: Ads, memberships, and fan-funding features have their own eligibility and, in some cases, module requirements.
- Ad delivery: Even a monetized stream is not guaranteed to serve ads or generate a particular amount of revenue.
YouTube’s channel monetization policy says, “Our reviewers will check your channel and content against our policies.” Reviewers can consider the channel as a whole, not just the live stream. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
Does a 24/7 loop count toward YPP watch hours?
Livestream viewing can contribute to the public-watch-hour threshold if the stream is public and is not deleted or left unconverted to a video on demand (VOD). YouTube says unlisted or deleted streams, and streams not converted to VOD, do not count as qualified public watch hours. A stream’s hours counting toward a threshold is not the same as being accepted into YPP or earning ad revenue. Check YouTube’s YPP eligibility requirements for current details.

Higher YPP threshold for ad-revenue eligibility
YouTube’s current overview lists 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days. Shorts Feed watch time does not count toward the 4,000-hour figure. Meeting a threshold makes a channel eligible to apply for review; it does not guarantee acceptance.
Other baseline requirements
YouTube also lists compliance with its monetization policies, residence in a country or region where YPP is available, no active Community Guidelines strikes, 2-Step Verification, access to advanced features, and an AdSense for YouTube account that is linked or ready to set up. Confirm the live requirements on YouTube’s eligibility page because availability and program terms can change.
Why can a stream of your own videos still fail review?
Creator ownership is relevant, but it does not by itself establish that a channel meets YouTube’s originality and authenticity standards. Replaying the same material continuously may raise questions about whether the channel offers sufficiently original, varied, or valuable content. YouTube’s policy says repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible for monetization.

YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy note clarified that repetitive or mass-produced content is covered by its “inauthentic content” policy and said the reused-content policy did not change. Reused content concerns repurposing material already on YouTube or elsewhere without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. It is distinct from copyright: having permission to use material does not by itself settle a reused-content review, just as owning a video does not establish that every embedded element is cleared for use.
Reviewers may look at a channel’s main theme, newest and most-viewed videos, the share of watch time associated with particular content, metadata, and the About section. A schedule consisting mostly of repeated videos should therefore be assessed in the context of the entire channel. YouTube’s general guidance does not determine in advance how a particular 24/7 schedule will be judged.

What rights do you need for a creator-owned stream?
Check the rights to every element that viewers can hear or see—not only the footage. A video you recorded may include a commercially licensed song, stock footage, photographs, artwork, clips, or other material whose licence does not cover continuous live streaming or monetization.
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have the rights needed to exploit the live content, including relevant music rights, and to comply with applicable law and Community Guidelines. Review the permissions for each component and resolve any restrictions before adding it to a continuous stream. YouTube’s Terms of Service set out the applicable terms.

Which YouTube revenue features can apply to live streams?
YouTube lists live-stream ads, channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers as possible revenue features for eligible creators. Availability depends on program and feature eligibility, and some features require the relevant monetization module.

Ads and Watch Page revenue
When monetization is enabled, pre-roll and display ads are automatically on; mid-roll ads can be automatic or manual. YouTube explicitly cautions that ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. An automatically starting embedded stream on an external site has ads turned off, according to YouTube’s live monetization guidance. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization help.

For Watch Page ad and YouTube Premium revenue on long-form or live-stream videos, a creator must accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube’s partner earnings overview states that partners who accept Watch Page Ads receive 55% of net revenue from ads displayed or streamed on public videos on the content Watch Page. That is a revenue-share term, not an estimate of what a particular stream will earn; YouTube does not guarantee whether or how much a creator will be paid. See YouTube’s partner earnings overview.
Fan funding and shopping
Memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers can provide alternatives to ad revenue when the channel and feature are eligible. YouTube’s overview lists a 70% share of net revenue for certain fan-funding features under the Commerce Product Module; that figure applies under the relevant module terms, not as a general rate for all livestream income.
YouTube Shopping may let eligible YPP creators feature their own products or products from other brands. Brand partnerships are another possible income source, but any promotion should be clearly handled under YouTube’s applicable policies and the terms of the brand arrangement. Neither product tagging nor sponsorship changes the need to pass channel monetization review or hold the rights required for the stream. See YouTube’s Shopping overview and YouTube’s live-stream shopping guidance.

How to make a 24/7 stream more review-ready
- Check channel eligibility and status. Review YPP requirements and any Community Guidelines or monetization notices in YouTube Studio before planning income around the stream.
- Audit the full channel, not just the playlist. Look at what dominates your uploads and watch time, and whether the channel clearly demonstrates original work and meaningful value beyond automatic repetition.
- Review every asset’s rights. Confirm that footage, music, graphics, and other embedded material may be used in a public livestream and monetized. Replace or remove anything whose permissions are unclear.
- Set up the relevant revenue features. If accepted into YPP, review the Watch Page Monetization Module for ads and Premium revenue, and the Commerce Product Module where relevant to fan funding.
- Keep the stream public and preserve its VOD when you need eligible watch hours. YouTube excludes unlisted or deleted streams and streams not converted to VOD from qualified public watch hours.
- Monitor actual performance and policy status. Check YouTube Studio for monetization status, restrictions, and whether ads are serving; do not treat continuous uptime or watch-hour accumulation as a promise of earnings.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep your own uploaded videos live on YouTube without leaving a computer running, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo runs YouTube streams of uploaded videos; it does not provide a camera-based live feed. It does not change YouTube’s YPP eligibility, content review, rights, or revenue rules. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
