Sometimes—but The Tower ending is a confirmed exception. After “Things Done Changed,” the Phantom Liberty epilogue associated with The Tower, Cyberpunk 2077 does not return you to the Point of No Return. CD PROJEKT RED says this is intentional: V’s story is allowed to end, and the epilogue grants no rewards. For that ending, keep an earlier manual save if you want to resume from before the finale.
What happens after The Tower ending?
After completing “Things Done Changed,” The Tower ending does not send you back to the Point of No Return. CD PROJEKT RED’s official support article says the behavior is “as designed.” The studio explains that returning to the Point of No Return would create an “uncanny narrative experience”; because the epilogue gives no rewards, the game lets V’s story end.

The official documentation available for this question confirms The Tower’s no-return behavior, but does not establish how every other ending handles the final save, whether a “one more gig” option appears in every case, or which rewards carry over. Do not assume The Tower’s outcome applies to all endings—or rely on one universal post-credits rule. Check the behavior for your ending and current game version.

How to protect your progress before an ending
Make a separate manual save before committing to an ending if you may want to return to free roam or explore another outcome. CD PROJEKT RED advises players to save often and keep more than one save file as a backup because some decisions cannot be taken back. Its guidance is available in the Save often! support article.
- Before the Point of No Return: create a manual save you can identify later, and keep it separate from your regular rotating saves.
- Before choosing The Tower: verify that the earlier save is still available. The completed Tower epilogue will not return you to the Point of No Return.
- If you have already completed The Tower: load that earlier save to resume from before the ending. Without one, the documented Tower behavior offers no return to the earlier playable point.
Does the game version change the answer?
Version context matters, but it does not fill the documentation gap for other endings. CD PROJEKT RED’s Update 2.0 announcement, published September 21, 2023, describes a major revision and says existing saves could still be continued after that update. That historical compatibility note is not an ending-by-ending guide and does not confirm post-ending return or reward behavior in every current version.
