Is there a free PS Plus trial?
Sony’s US terms say that, if an offer is available in your country or region, you may try PlayStation Plus benefits free for a limited period. Sony does not guarantee that every account will see an offer. Eligibility can depend on region and subscriber status, and trial availability and terms can change. The US terms generally limit a free trial to one per person unless Sony says otherwise, and allow additional restrictions to prevent misuse. Read Sony’s US PS Plus Usage Terms.

Those terms describe a temporary trial, not a permanent free membership. A discounted subscription promotion is also not free: it charges the price shown when you accept it. Compare the offer’s cost, duration, and renewal terms before signing up.
How to check for and start an official trial
- Sign in to your PlayStation account through the PlayStation Store or your console, then look for a PlayStation Plus trial or promotion available to your account.
- Open the offer details and check the trial duration, the date it ends, the renewal price and billing frequency, and the payment method required. These details are specific to the offer displayed; do not assume another account or region has the same terms.
- Accept only if you understand whether the offer will renew and are comfortable with its payment requirements. In Sony’s US terms, a credit or debit card or PayPal account is required for a trial; requirements may differ in other countries.
Use your local PlayStation terms and the offer on your own account if you are outside the United States. Sony notes that benefits and features can vary by region, subscription tier, device, age, account type, and parental-control settings. Its PlayStation Plus page describes the service, but your account’s offer screen is the place to confirm your eligibility and specific terms.

How to cancel before the trial becomes paid
If you do not want a paid subscription, cancel before the renewal date shown for your offer. Sony says trial benefits remain available through the final day of the trial even if you cancel earlier. Use Sony’s subscription management instructions to find the cancellation steps for your account and device.
After canceling, confirm the subscription status and end date in the account’s subscription settings. Keep the confirmation for your records. Do not rely on an assumed trial length or a reminder from someone else: use the end and renewal dates displayed for your specific offer.

What to avoid when looking for free access
- Do not treat automatic renewal as a free extension. Sony’s US terms say a free trial normally converts to a recurring paid subscription at the billing frequency selected during sign-up unless canceled before it ends.
- Do not share your sign-in or authentication details. Sony’s US Terms of Service instruct users to protect account credentials and authentication information.
- Be cautious with unofficial code claims. Sony’s terms state that promotional codes can have region, age, expiry, and transfer restrictions. Use only offers and redemption instructions Sony provides or recognizes; a claim that a code is free does not establish that it is valid for your account.
- Do not create extra accounts to get around eligibility. Sony’s terms describe trial limits and permit additional restrictions to prevent misuse; the legitimate route is an offer available to your own eligible account.
What changes by region, tier, and offer
Not every promotion is a free trial, and there is no universal trial duration, renewal price, or payment requirement established for all countries. The offer may be unavailable, limited to eligible subscribers, or replaced by a discounted paid promotion. PS Plus benefits and included games can also vary by tier and region, and game availability can change. Read the terms attached to the offer and the local PlayStation service information before you accept it.
