But 60 FPS is not a universal result: published figures range from 37.5 FPS on Ultra to 72 FPS on Low, while the game’s Mac-optimized preset has been reported at a steady 56 FPS. Preset, upscaling, ray tracing and measurement method matter.
Can the M6 Mac mini run Cyberpunk 2077 at 60 FPS in 1080p?
It can approach 60 FPS with optimized settings, but the available results do not establish a locked 60 FPS at native 1920×1080 for every M6 Mac mini configuration. Notebookcheck’s 2026 results show 72 FPS on Low, 55.1 FPS on Medium, 43.8 FPS on High and 37.5 FPS on Ultra at 1920×1080. Tom’s Guide reported a steady 56 FPS at 1080p using the game’s “For this Mac” preset.
Those figures are not interchangeable: one is a set of quality-preset results and the other uses a Mac-specific preset. A user report of 60 FPS at 1080p with high settings and upscaling is uncontrolled, so it should not be treated as a repeatable benchmark. In short, “about 56–60 FPS with optimized settings” is more accurate than an unqualified claim that the Mac mini holds 60 FPS at 1080p.
M6 Mac mini Cyberpunk benchmark: what the numbers mean
| Test or claim | Reported result | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Notebookcheck, Low | 72 FPS at 1920×1080 | 2026 published result; Low preset. |
| Notebookcheck, Medium | 55.1 FPS at 1920×1080 | 2026 published result; Medium preset. |
| Notebookcheck, High | 43.8 FPS at 1920×1080 | 2026 published result; High preset. |
| Notebookcheck, Ultra | 37.5 FPS at 1920×1080 | 2026 published result; Ultra preset. |
| Tom’s Guide, “For this Mac” | Steady 56 FPS at 1080p | 2026 report using the game’s Mac-specific preset. |
| Apple’s comparison | Up to 2× faster gaming performance with ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition versus Mac mini with M4 | Apple’s 2026 relative-performance claim, not an absolute FPS measurement. |
| Uncontrolled user report | 60 FPS at 1080p with high settings and upscaling | Method and repeatability are not established. |
The published preset results illustrate the trade-off: increasing image quality can bring frame rate below 60. “At 1080p” can also describe the display output rather than the game’s internal render resolution; if upscaling is enabled, the image may be reconstructed from a lower internal resolution. The available user report does not provide enough controlled detail to establish a general high-settings result or a minimum frame rate.

Cyberpunk 2077 Mac mini M6 settings: what to check
- Graphics preset: Low exceeded 60 FPS in Notebookcheck’s result; Medium came in just below it, and High and Ultra were lower. Tom’s Guide’s 56 FPS figure used “For this Mac,” not one of those named presets.
- Resolution and scaling: Confirm whether 1920×1080 is the game’s render resolution or only the output resolution. Upscaling can improve performance while producing an image at the selected display resolution.
- Ray tracing: Apple’s “up to 2× faster” statement compares the M6 with the M4 in a ray-traced scenario. It does not mean the M6 will deliver twice a specific FPS figure, nor does it establish a 60 FPS ray-traced result.
- FPS statistic: “Steady” or average FPS does not by itself describe the lowest dips, frame-time consistency or performance throughout every part of the game. The cited summary figures do not provide a common minimum-FPS comparison.
- Memory configuration: Apple lists 16GB unified memory as standard and says the Mac mini can be configured with up to 32GB. The cited results do not establish how FPS changes between those configurations.
What Apple’s 60 FPS demonstration does—and doesn’t—show
At WWDC26, Apple Developer presented Cyberpunk 2077 on a Mac and described it as “running smoothly at 60 frames per second with out of the box settings.” The presentation frames this as a Mac-optimized demonstration, not a universal benchmark for every M6 Mac mini configuration or every graphics preset. Apple separately says the M6 Mac mini offers “Up to 2x faster gaming performance with ray tracing” in Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition compared with the M4 Mac mini. That is a generational comparison, not a promise of a particular frame rate.
CD PROJEKT RED’s High Fidelity Mac configuration guidance calls for an M2 Max or M3 Max with 32GB RAM and targets 60 FPS at 1800×1125 or 1920×1080. This is useful context for the game’s demanding settings, but it is not a direct M6 Mac mini benchmark and should not be read as the M6’s system requirement.

Can a 1080p/60Hz display handle the test?
Yes. Apple Support documents M6 Mac mini support for 4K at 60Hz over HDMI, so a 1080p/60Hz HDMI display is within that stated display capability. Higher-refresh modes are available over Thunderbolt, but they are not necessary to view output at 60Hz. Display refresh rate and game frame rate are separate: a 60Hz screen can display up to 60 refreshes per second, while the game may render fewer or more frames.

If your target is a playable 1080p experience near 60 FPS with a Mac-optimized or lower-quality preset, the published results make the M6 Mac mini a plausible option. If you require a locked 60 FPS at High or Ultra, or with ray tracing enabled, the evidence here does not establish that outcome. Apple announced the M6 Mac mini on August 25, 2026; the U.S. starting price is $899, with 16GB unified memory standard and configurations up to 32GB. Choose settings based on the balance you want between image quality and smoothness rather than assuming the headline figure applies to every setup.
