What SingleFile saves
SingleFile captures a webpage and packages it, along with resources such as CSS, images, fonts and frames, into one HTML file. Its project describes the extension as a way to save complete, self-contained web pages, and also offers a command-line tool that saves a page and its resources as one HTML file. So, if you want a webpage-style file to open later, use SingleFile. If you specifically need a PDF document, use the browser’s print-to-PDF workflow instead.

How to save a webpage as a PDF
Open the page in your browser, open its print preview, then choose a PDF destination. The exact labels and available destinations depend on your browser, operating system and version.

Chrome on desktop
- Open the webpage you want to save.
- Open Print with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print dialog, choose a PDF destination and save the file. Google’s Chrome print instructions describe the destination workflow.
Firefox
- Open the webpage and open Print preview.
- Choose Save to PDF from the Destination menu, if it is available in your setup.
- Save the resulting document. Mozilla’s Firefox printing guide covers printing webpages.
A PDF is a print-oriented rendering, not necessarily an exact copy of how the page looks or behaves on screen. The print layout and browser settings affect the result.
Which format should you choose?

What may not work in a SingleFile capture
SingleFile aims to make a self-contained capture, but offline behavior is not guaranteed. Its FAQ says scripts are removed by default because they can alter rendering and may not work offline. Options exist for retaining scripts and raw page content, but dynamic features such as maps and carousels may still fail to behave as they did online.

- Protected pages: Browser restrictions can prevent extensions from saving pages on certain protected domains.
- Missing images: Some sites require a Referer header to load images. The relevant SingleFile setting is off by default for privacy reasons.
- Interactive content: Even when resources are captured, page behavior can depend on scripts or services that are unavailable offline.
