There is not enough information in the headline to identify the package manager it describes or verify that it replaced WinGet, Homebrew, and APT on every computer. Those tools serve different operating systems and package catalogs. A shared configuration tool may help coordinate them, but that is not the same as replacing them all with one installer.
What does “replaced” mean?
A package workflow can cover several different jobs: installing software, updating and removing it, keeping an inventory, and recreating a setup on another computer. A tool might centralize one of those jobs while relying on an operating system’s native manager for the others. Without the named tool, device list, package list, and commands, the headline’s first-person claim cannot be checked.

For a useful comparison, ask whether the tool installs the same package types on each operating system, whether it uses a shared catalog or delegates to native managers, and whether its configuration can reproduce the same setup elsewhere. An inventory file alone does not establish that every listed app can be installed or updated through one cross-platform mechanism.

Homebrew spans macOS and Linux, not native Windows
Homebrew describes itself as “The Package Manager for Everywhere,” but its documentation describes support for macOS and Linux: it installs UNIX tools on macOS and software not packaged for a Linux distribution. Its documented installation prefixes are for those two operating-system families. That scope does not make it a native Windows replacement for WinGet. Homebrew’s brew(1) manpage

Homebrew’s brew bundle can record and restore dependencies from a Brewfile. The documented dependency types include formulae, casks, Mac App Store dependencies, and Visual Studio Code extensions. WinGet entries in that integration are documented as WSL-only, not as native Windows installs. A Brewfile can therefore help describe a setup without proving that Homebrew handles every package category on every computer.
mise can describe packages managed by different native tools
mise’s bootstrap documentation maps package installation to platform-specific managers, including APT for Debian and Ubuntu, Homebrew for macOS and Linux, and WinGet for Windows. It requires manager prefixes and lists platform requirements. That is evidence of a configuration layer that can work with several managers; it is not evidence that APT, Homebrew, or WinGet has ceased to do the underlying installation work. mise’s Bootstrap Packages documentation

WinGet remains a Windows installation path
Microsoft’s Windows Terminal project documents installing the app with winget install --id Microsoft.WindowsTerminal -e. Its README lists Chocolatey and Scoop installation paths separately and labels them unofficial. This illustrates why package availability and the manager used can matter even when a user is trying to standardize a workflow. Microsoft Terminal’s README

- Operating-system coverage: Check each target OS and whether it is supported natively or through a subsystem such as WSL.
- Package coverage: Separate command-line tools, desktop applications, app-store software, and developer-tool extensions. Support for one category does not imply support for the others.
- What performs the install: Determine whether the tool installs packages itself or calls a platform’s native manager.
- Reproducibility: Check whether a file records dependencies and whether those dependencies can actually be restored on each target machine.
- Lifecycle behavior: Verify how updates, removals, and packages unavailable on one platform are handled.
What would verify the headline’s personal claim?
A substantiated account would name the replacement tool and show enough detail for readers to distinguish an observed setup from a vendor’s feature description. At minimum, it would identify the computers and operating systems involved, the tool versions, a representative package list, the commands used, and which installs, updates, or removals still went through native managers. It should also describe packages that were unavailable or required a different path.

Until those details are available, the most defensible conclusion is narrower: Homebrew documents macOS and Linux support, and mise documents a way to work with several platform-specific package managers. Neither fact establishes that one manager replaced WinGet, Homebrew, and APT across an unspecified set of computers.
