No—not reliably. There is no dependable, cross-client way to make music start automatically when someone opens an email. Embedded audio support varies between email programs, and audible autoplay may also be blocked by browser settings or policies. The practical option is to link to the track and let each recipient choose whether to play it.
Why music will not reliably start when an email opens
Email programs do not handle embedded sound consistently, so a method that works in one place may fail in another. Leo A. Notenboom addressed this specific question in an Ask Leo! article published June 20, 2012, and said he had no reliable instructions for making music play automatically when an email is opened. That article does not establish how Yahoo Mail behaves today.

There is a separate obstacle when playback depends on a browser: browsers commonly restrict audible media that starts without a user action, though the exact rules vary. That does not mean every email client relies on a browser, but it does mean an audio tag or a JavaScript playback attempt is not a dependable workaround. MDN’s guide to autoplay explains the browser-side restrictions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat hosting an MP3 does—and does not—solve
Putting an MP3 on a server or file-sharing service gives you a place to link to. It does not make the recipient’s email software play the file, and it does not override browser autoplay rules. A hosted track can still be useful as the destination for a link, but it cannot guarantee automatic playback.
