Can Microlink Screenshot an Indian Government Website With CAPTCHA?

Microlink can capture what its browser receives, including a CAPTCHA screen. Its documented proxy handling is not a guarantee that it will pass the challenge.

Microlink can take a screenshot of an Indian government website, but that does not mean it can solve or pass the site’s CAPTCHA. Its documentation describes screenshot capture, antibot detection and proxy routing on Pro; it does not promise that a CAPTCHA will be completed. Without a specific portal or test, the outcome for any particular site is unknown.

What Microlink does when you request a screenshot

Microlink’s screenshot flow opens a URL in a managed headless browser, renders the page, captures the current viewport, stores the image on a CDN and returns asset information. Its guide also describes options such as full-page capture and image type. See the Microlink screenshot guide.

A screenshot records what the browser actually received. If the site presents a CAPTCHA or bot-check screen instead of the requested content, the screenshot may show that screen. Screenshot capture is not the same as challenge completion.

Can Microlink get past the CAPTCHA?

Microlink documents antibot detection and proxy handling, not universal CAPTCHA solving. Its antibot documentation says the detector identifies protection systems but does not solve challenges: “It tells you who blocked you, not how to get past.” Read Microlink’s antibot detection explanation.

The Microlink API page says detected antibot protection on the free endpoint can return EPROXYNEEDED. It describes Pro as routing blocked requests through a proxy automatically. Proxy routing changes the request route; the documentation does not guarantee that this will complete a CAPTCHA or grant access to a protected page.

What results should you expect?

  • Page content loads: Microlink can capture the content the browser receives.
  • A challenge appears: the screenshot may contain the CAPTCHA or bot-check screen rather than the requested page.
  • The request is blocked: Microlink may report an antibot-related response or another service error.
  • Proxy routing is used: this may change how a request reaches the site, but it is not proof that the challenge was solved.

These are possible outcomes, not results from a test of a named Indian government portal. No specific portal, CAPTCHA provider or observed success rate is established here. The result depends on the site’s protections and response.

How to evaluate Microlink for your target site

  1. Check that you are permitted to access the page programmatically. Do not use proxy routing to evade access restrictions or site rules.
  2. Try the target URL and inspect the returned image and response. Confirm whether the requested content loaded or whether the browser captured a challenge page.
  3. If the free endpoint returns EPROXYNEEDED, note that Microlink documents automatic proxy routing on Pro for detected blocks. Treat this as a routing option, not a CAPTCHA-solving guarantee.
  4. Test the exact workflow you need. A result for one portal or one page would not establish behavior for other government sites or CAPTCHA implementations.

Microlink’s screenshot guide states an allowance of 25 free requests per day; it is a vendor-stated allowance and may change, so check the current guide before relying on it.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo is an alternative website screenshot API. Its one-call request can return a screenshot, but, like any screenshot capture, that is not a promise of CAPTCHA completion:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, popups and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots per month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000.
