Generally, yes. Open the YouTube app on a smart TV, streaming device, or game console and sign in to the YouTube account that has an eligible membership to the channel. Whether you can watch depends on the membership level the creator selected. YouTube documents TV-app sign-in and members-only live streams separately, but does not explicitly guarantee playback on every TV model or app version.
How to watch on a TV
- Open the YouTube app on your smart TV, streaming device, or game console. YouTube’s TV app guide covers these device types.
- Sign in to the YouTube account associated with your channel membership. If the TV is already signed in, check which account is active.
- Find the stream from the channel page, a membership-content listing, a notification, or a stream link if one is available. YouTube says members may receive a notification when a members-only live stream starts.
- Check that your membership level qualifies. A creator can make a live stream available to all paid members or restrict it to selected levels and above.
Membership access is different from members-only chat
A members-only live stream is gated: viewers need a membership at a level the creator permits to watch. YouTube says non-members can see the stream’s thumbnail and metadata, but cannot continue to view the gated content without an eligible membership. By contrast, a public live stream with members-only chat is watchable by everyone; the membership restriction applies to chatting, not viewing. What “24/7” does—and does not—promise
“24/7” describes how the creator intends to schedule or operate the stream. The YouTube Help pages reviewed do not promise uninterrupted broadcasting or state a maximum continuous runtime, so the label is not a guarantee that the stream will never end or disconnect.
If the stream will not play
- Check the signed-in account: Switch to the account that holds the channel membership, then reopen the stream.
- Check the membership level: Confirm that the creator allows your level to watch; membership at a lower level may not qualify.
- Try another YouTube device: YouTube’s help documentation does not provide a universal compatibility list for members-only live playback across TV models and app versions. If access still fails, try another supported device and consult YouTube support.
