What “looping on YouTube” means
Castr plays the uploaded file out as a live broadcast and sends that broadcast to YouTube. Viewers join the same live timeline; this does not make an ordinary YouTube upload automatically restart for each viewer. Use the live-stream approach when you want one continuous broadcast, and a regular YouTube upload when viewers should be able to start and pause playback on demand. Castr describes its prerecorded-video workflow as a live-streaming use case.

How to loop one MP4 in Castr
- Create a prerecorded stream: In Castr, open Pre-Recorded Streams and create a stream. Castr’s setup guide documents this workflow.
- Upload your file: Upload the MP4 or import it from cloud storage. Castr’s current guide says this feature supports
.mp4files; file size and file-count limits depend on the subscription. - Choose Loop: Select Loop as the scheduling mode. Castr describes this mode as repeatedly playing the playlist, so a playlist with one file repeats that file. Its scheduling guide says Infinite Loop sends the video to added platforms repeatedly for 24/7 streaming. See Castr’s scheduling-mode details.
- Add YouTube: Connect YouTube through Castr’s YouTube integration or enter YouTube’s streaming server and stream key. Castr documents both connection options.
- Enable the destination and start: Make sure the YouTube destination is switched on, then start the stream.
- Verify the plan limits: Check your account’s current loop entitlement and file-size, file-duration, and storage limits before scheduling an extended broadcast. Castr’s product page places continuous infinite looping on Premium and higher, while its help guide says prerecorded streaming is available across plans; these statements distinguish the general feature from continuous looping, and account limits may vary.
Will YouTube save the entire stream?
Not necessarily. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not treat a continuous loop as a guaranteed complete replay. If a complete archive matters, arrange a separate recording or plan shorter broadcasts within YouTube’s documented archiving window. YouTube’s archive guidance explains the limitation.

Confirm you have the rights
You are responsible for having the necessary rights for livestream content, including music. Check every audio, video, and image element in the MP4 before broadcasting. YouTube’s livestream terms set out the broadcaster’s responsibilities.

Do not assume repetition qualifies for monetization
A technical ability to repeat a file does not establish whether a channel or stream will be monetized. YouTube’s channel monetization policy expects original, authentic content and identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as a potential concern. Assess the actual content and channel against the current policy; neither approval nor rejection follows automatically from using a loop. Read YouTube’s monetization policies.
Common problems and fixes
- The stream stops after one play: Confirm the scheduling mode is Loop, not a one-time schedule, and that continuous looping is available on your current Castr plan.
- The upload is rejected: Confirm it is an MP4, then check the account’s current file-size and duration limits.
- YouTube is not receiving the broadcast: Check that YouTube is added as a destination and its toggle is on. If using a server URL and stream key, verify both against the YouTube event’s current settings.
- The replay is missing or incomplete: A stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived by YouTube. Use a separate recording or schedule shorter broadcasts if the replay is important.
- The stream is live but monetization is uncertain: Review the originality and repetitious-content requirements; technical looping alone cannot settle eligibility.
