Yes. An RTX 3060 has a seventh-generation NVIDIA NVENC encoder and can encode a 4K, 60fps YouTube Live stream using H.264 or H.265/HEVC, with the right software and system configuration. That establishes encoding capability—not that any particular PC, power supply, or internet connection will keep a stream running without interruption for 24/7 operation.
What the RTX 3060 can encode
NVIDIA identifies the RTX 3060 family as Ampere-generation GPUs with a seventh-generation NVIDIA Encoder (NVENC). NVIDIA’s SDK documentation lists H.264 and HEVC encoding support for Ampere. Those codecs are suitable options for a YouTube Live encoder setup.

Do not infer AV1 encoding support from AV1 playback or decoding support: the available NVIDIA evidence does not support recommending AV1 encoding on the RTX 3060. Also, specifications can vary between add-in-card models, so check the documentation for the specific card if you need board-level details. YouTube’s live encoder guidance accepts H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1, supports frame rates up to 60fps, recommends CBR, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval. The keyframe interval must not exceed four seconds. For 4K/2160p at 60fps, YouTube’s recommended bitrate is 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for H.265/HEVC. Its listed minimums are 14 Mbps and 10 Mbps respectively; those minimums are not prudent targets for a connection whose upload rate fluctuates.

These are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not independent performance-test results. YouTube recommends RTMPS for ingest. Its low-latency optimization is unavailable for 4K/2160p streams, so plan on normal latency at this resolution. See YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
Configure and test a local 3060 setup
- Choose the encoder. In streaming software that supports your card, select NVENC with H.264 or HEVC. Configure the software to use YouTube’s recommended ingest protocol, RTMPS.
- Set the video output. Set the output resolution to 3840×2160 and frame rate to 60fps. Set rate control to CBR and keyframe interval to two seconds; keep it at or below YouTube’s four-second maximum.
- Set a starting bitrate. Use 50 Mbps for H.264 or 35 Mbps for HEVC at 4K60. Your sustained upload capacity needs comfortable headroom above the selected stream bitrate, with room for other traffic. A speed test at one moment cannot establish that the connection will sustain the load continuously.
- Connect to YouTube Live. Use the YouTube stream key and ingest configuration in your encoder. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it, and reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Test a representative loop before relying on it. YouTube Help says, “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.” Test with audio and movement similar to the actual content, then monitor YouTube’s stream health. See YouTube’s encoder settings and testing guidance.
What 24/7 operation adds beyond encoding
A GPU specification cannot establish the reliability of a complete streaming system. Continuous operation also depends on the PC, cooling and temperatures, power, the network path, the ISP’s sustained upload, encoder software, and recovery after an application or connection failure. The available evidence does not establish a particular RTX 3060 computer’s multi-day thermals, encode load, ISP stability, or uptime. Test your own setup under representative conditions and plan how you will detect and recover from a failure; a UPS may help with brief power interruptions, but is not a guarantee of continuity.

Nothing has to stay on at home, including the RTX 3060 PC. Every slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. StreamNeo can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or current plan details, then start your free first day.
