Yes—but the subscriber threshold depends on how you go live. YouTube’s 50-subscriber minimum applies to mobile live streaming. An Indian channel with fewer than 1,000 subscribers can use a computer-based encoder or webcam workflow if it meets YouTube’s general live-stream requirements; the official guidance reviewed does not state a 1,000-subscriber minimum for those methods. A continuous playlist is a separate challenge: you need a playout setup that can send and repeat the video, because YouTube’s documented tools do not establish a native control that loops an existing playlist into an endless live stream.
What the subscriber thresholds mean
YouTube’s general prerequisites are a verified channel and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says creators must be at least 16 to live stream. Its documented methods include mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming. The general requirements are described in YouTube’s live-streaming help.

The 50-subscriber floor is specifically for mobile live streaming, not a universal minimum for every way to send a live feed. YouTube’s encoder and webcam instructions do not state that those methods require 1,000 subscribers. For a channel under 1,000 subscribers, therefore, an encoder-based workflow may be an option even when mobile streaming is not.

For mobile channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers, YouTube may limit the number of viewers and sets the stream archive to private by default. After reaching 1,000 subscribers, removing the mobile audience limitation can take several weeks. If the channel later falls below 1,000, the under-1,000 mobile limitations apply again; mobile access itself is retained unless the channel drops below 50 subscribers. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements for current details.
Computer-based encoder or webcam streaming
YouTube’s encoder instructions describe creating or scheduling a stream in YouTube Studio, then giving the encoder the stream URL and stream key so it can send the live feed. An encoder can be software or hardware. YouTube’s documentation does not attach the mobile 50-subscriber rule or the under-1,000 mobile viewer limitation to encoder streaming. Check your channel’s access and current Studio prompts before planning a broadcast.

Can YouTube loop an existing playlist into a continuous live stream?
Being eligible to go live does not by itself make a playlist stream continuous. YouTube’s official instructions explain scheduled streams, encoder inputs, and archiving, but do not document a built-in feature that takes an existing YouTube playlist and rebroadcasts it as an endless live stream. They also do not guarantee that a particular third-party playout workflow will be supported or stay online indefinitely.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo make a continuous stream, you need a playout method that sends a live encoder feed and can repeat your selected videos. Before committing to a long broadcast, verify that the specific encoder or service supports playlist playback and looping, what happens when a file ends, whether it reconnects after a network or YouTube interruption, and whether it can keep running for the duration you need.

Set up a computer-based playlist stream
This is a workflow outline, not a claim that YouTube itself supplies looping. You will need video files you are entitled to stream, an encoder or playout tool that supports looping, a computer that can remain on, and a reliable internet connection. Follow the chosen encoder’s current instructions for its playlist and reconnect settings.
- Confirm live access. Verify the channel and check that it has no live-stream restriction from the previous 90 days. If you plan to stream from a phone instead, first confirm that the channel meets YouTube’s mobile requirements.
- Prepare the playout. Add the videos to the encoder’s playlist and enable repeat or loop playback. Confirm what the software does at the end of the list and whether it resumes after a restart; these controls vary by encoder.
- Create a live stream in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule the broadcast, then copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
- Configure the encoder. Paste the stream URL and key into the encoder’s YouTube or custom-server fields as its instructions specify. Select the playlist, looping behavior, and reconnect options. YouTube’s cited encoder guidance does not prescribe a universal bitrate or resolution for every video and connection, so use settings supported by your encoder and test them before a long run.
- Start and verify the feed. Start sending from the encoder and confirm in Studio that YouTube receives the feed before starting or scheduling the broadcast. Check that the video is playing, audio is present, and the loop advances as intended.
- Test continuity before relying on it. Let the playlist run through at least one complete cycle, and test recovery from an encoder restart or temporary connection loss. Do not assume a stream is continuous merely because its first segment went live.
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive detail is not a promise that a longer stream will be archived in the same way; plan and verify the handling you need in Studio. The encoder setup and archiving guidance is at YouTube’s encoder help page.

Clear rights before streaming a playlist
You must have all necessary rights to use every part of the live content, including music, and comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and applicable law. A track or video being available online—or appearing in another creator’s stream—is not proof that you may rebroadcast it. YouTube’s Terms of Service set out the applicable requirements.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches, including copyrighted broadcasts. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the content; a stream may be interrupted or terminated if the match continues. Going live is not the same as qualifying for monetization
Subscriber eligibility to stream and approval to monetize are separate matters. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to live streams and says highly repetitive or mass-produced content may be ineligible. Reused content needs meaningful original value under the policy, and copyright rules still apply. YouTube clarified on July 15, 2025, that repetitive or mass-produced content is included in its “inauthentic content” policy; it described that as a clarification, not a change to the reused-content policy. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies rather than assuming that a technically successful loop qualifies for monetization.
Mobile versus encoder: which route fits?
| Method | Subscriber eligibility in YouTube’s guidance | Under-1,000 audience or archive effect | What you must check for a continuous playlist |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile live stream | At least 50 subscribers, plus YouTube’s other mobile requirements. | YouTube may limit viewers for channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers; mobile archives default to private. | A mobile live-stream eligibility does not establish playlist looping. Verify whether your chosen mobile workflow can play and repeat the material as a live feed. |
| Computer-based encoder | YouTube’s encoder instructions do not state a 1,000-subscriber minimum. | The reviewed encoder guidance does not state the under-1,000 mobile viewer limitation for encoder streams. | Confirm playlist playback, loop behavior, reconnection, and the computer and network’s ability to remain available. |
| Webcam | YouTube lists webcam streaming; the reviewed general guidance does not state a 1,000-subscriber minimum. | The reviewed guidance does not state the under-1,000 mobile limitation for webcam streams. | A webcam method is not itself a playlist playout system; check whether the selected setup can send the pre-recorded feed you intend to stream. |
