Small bubbles in a glass nudged Salesforce’s tAIster toward Champagne. The wine was Chardonnay. In a three-glass demonstration reported by TechRadar at Dreamforce 2026, the agent guessed two samples correctly and missed the third—but that makes for an entertaining anecdote, not an accuracy test.
How tAIster tried to identify the wine
TechRadar reporter Mike Moore connected to tAIster by scanning a QR code on his smartphone, then described three mystery wines to the agent. It prompted him for sensory clues: appearance, aroma, taste, and how the wine felt or “gripped” in the glass. The system used those human-supplied descriptions to produce guesses; the account does not describe tAIster tasting, smelling, or chemically analyzing the wine itself.

TechRadar said the agent had been educated on “around 400,000 different types of wines,” with attributes such as taste, feel, and aroma. That is the article’s description of its wine knowledge, not independently verified documentation of a dataset or evidence that the system can identify a bottle reliably. What it guessed—and where it went wrong
Moore reported that tAIster correctly guessed his first two samples. On the third, he mentioned small bubbles in the glass; the system guessed Veuve Clicquot Champagne, but he identified the wine as Chardonnay. That one-person, three-sample result shows a plausible failure mode: a sensory clue can fit more than one wine, and an agent may over-weight a vivid cue.

A description is not the same thing as an exact identity. Many wines can share descriptors, and the TechRadar account does not establish whether tAIster chose from an open-ended universe or a limited candidate list, nor what counted as a correct answer. The two correct guesses therefore cannot be converted into a meaningful general accuracy rate.
What would show whether an AI wine guesser is reliable?
A useful evaluation would need more than a handful of samples. It should specify the task and control how the clues are gathered, then repeat the test across wines, tasters, and sessions. Important details would include:

- Range: How many wines are tested, and how varied are their grapes, regions, styles, and ages?
- Choice set: Must the agent name any wine, or choose from a defined list?
- Success criterion: Does a match require the exact bottle, or would grape, region, or broad style count?
- Blinding: Are tasters and evaluators prevented from seeing information that could influence descriptions or scoring?
- Repeatability: Does the system perform similarly with different people and in repeated sessions?
Research on human blind tasting offers context, but it does not answer whether tAIster works. A 2018 study in the Journal of Wine Economics analyzed 196 tasting sheets containing 2,271 tasting notes and examined training and accuracy in human blind tasting. It was not a test of this AI agent. It can make a guess from a person’s description, as tAIster’s reported demonstration illustrates. But this account does not establish how often it would identify wines correctly in a controlled test. The distinction matters: the agent was interpreting words about sensory impressions, not directly sensing the wine, and the report does not show that it had to distinguish a wine from every possible alternative.

For anyone curious about practicing the same descriptive skill, an aroma-training kit can offer a structured way to learn and name common wine aromas. It is a practice aid, not a wine-identification tool, and there is no indication Moore used one in the demonstration.
What the Dreamforce report establishes
Salesforce’s official Dreamforce 2026 retrospective confirms the event context, but the official page located does not independently corroborate the tAIster wine session or Moore’s results.
