Yes—AI can analyze sales data from multiple CRM systems if the data is made available through compatible connectors, imports, or a data platform that brings the sources together. It is not automatic: support for the specific CRM, records, fields, permissions, and refresh schedule determines what the analysis can actually see.
What cross-CRM sales analysis involves
The AI is only one part of the workflow. First, data from each CRM must be connected or imported; then it must be prepared so that records and business definitions can be compared. The analysis can only answer reliably from the data it can access.

For example, Salesforce CRM Analytics describes connecting Salesforce and external sources, preparing data with recipes or dataflows, and making datasets available for analysis. Administrators can choose objects and columns, filter rows, and set up scheduled or on-demand sync and refresh. The connection account’s permissions affect which source data is available. Salesforce’s data integration guide explains these options.

Salesforce lists a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales connection for syncing sales data into CRM Analytics. Separately, Microsoft’s Sales Research Agent uses Dynamics 365 Sales by default and can be connected to other Dataverse environments or supplied with files. Neither example means every AI tool can directly query every CRM.

Can I combine Salesforce and Dynamics 365 data?
Yes, in documented configurations. Salesforce lists a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales application connector for CRM Analytics. Microsoft also documents using its Sales Research Agent with Dynamics 365 Sales data, other Dataverse environments, or uploaded sales files. These are different product paths, not evidence that the two systems automatically stay synchronized with one another.
Microsoft’s Research Agent documentation supports PDF, CSV, and Excel uploads, subject to product-specific limits: up to 10 MB per file, no more than five files and 30 MB total. It also sets format and content conditions, including selectable text in PDFs and restrictions on Excel tables and columns. These limits apply to that agent’s upload feature, not to AI analysis in general. See Microsoft’s instructions to connect a different data source or upload data.
How to connect two CRMs for sales reporting
- Choose the sales question. Define the decision first, such as comparing conversion by lead source or reviewing pipeline coverage across business units. Select only the records and fields needed to answer it.
- Check how each system can provide that data. Look for a native connector, a data platform, an API-based integration, or a controlled export and import. Verify the exact CRM product and edition, objects and fields, sync direction, and whether the route is direct or mediated. Connector coverage is specific to the products involved.
- Map and standardize the data. Match corresponding fields and identifiers, then address duplicate accounts or contacts, different stage definitions, currencies, dates, and time zones. Similar field names do not guarantee that two CRMs mean the same thing by “qualified,” “closed,” or “pipeline value.”
- Set data access deliberately. Confirm which connection account can read which records and fields, and apply appropriate filters. For Salesforce CRM Analytics, the connection account’s permissions determine what is accessible; administrators can select objects and columns and filter rows.
- Set the refresh approach. Decide whether the analysis can use scheduled snapshots or needs more direct access. Salesforce documents scheduled and on-demand sync and refresh, as well as a Direct Data option; query performance depends on the use case and data size. Establish how fresh the information must be for the decision at hand.
- Check the result against source records. Ask a focused question, inspect the records and definitions behind the result, and verify important calculations before using a summary in a forecast or account decision. Microsoft describes its Research Agent as providing visualizations and a “show work” explanation.
Will AI deduplicate accounts across CRMs?
Not simply because the records are connected. Duplicates and identity matching need to be handled by the integration or data-preparation process. Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data, for example, documents importing data from sources such as Fabric OneLake, Azure Data Lake, Dataverse, Azure Synapse Analytics (preview), and Power Query connectors, then selecting fields, removing duplicates, defining match conditions, unifying fields, and creating relationships.
Those steps can help establish which records refer to the same account or contact, but matching rules and source identifiers still need review. A false match can merge different customers; a missed match can leave one customer split across systems. Microsoft describes the relevant preparation workflow in its Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Data overview.
What to verify before relying on a combined analysis
| Area | What to check |
|---|---|
| CRM and connector coverage | Exact CRM products and editions, supported objects and fields, sync direction, and whether the connection is native or uses a file or data platform. |
| Matching and definitions | How account and contact duplicates are handled; how identifiers map; and whether stages, currencies, and date conventions mean the same thing across teams. |
| Refresh and scale | Sync cadence, dataset refresh timing, query performance, and the freshness required for the decision. Loaded datasets and direct queries can behave differently. |
| Permissions and governance | Which accounts and applications can access the records, the row and field scope, retention and processing location, consent, and applicable legal obligations. |
| Explainability and review | Whether users can inspect source records and reasoning, correct errors, and validate generated summaries before acting on them. |
Accuracy, privacy, and regional data movement
AI output can be incomplete or wrong, particularly when source fields are inconsistent or the system lacks the metadata needed to find the right information. Microsoft says the Sales Research Agent uses metadata such as table and column names and descriptions to identify relevant information; missing data can result in an error. Microsoft’s separate guidance on AI-powered Data Enrichment says suggestions can be incorrect, conflicting, or based on probabilistic inference, and should be reviewed. That warning concerns the documented enrichment capability, not a measured error rate for every AI product. Microsoft does not provide a specific benchmark for that capability.
Data access and location depend on configuration and product terms. Microsoft advises organizations to assess their legal and regulatory obligations for the Sales Research Agent. Its documentation on sales agent data movement across geographies says prompts and outputs may move to an Azure OpenAI endpoint in another region and describes consent conditions, including for Salesforce-connected environments. Check current terms and deployment settings for the exact product and region before connecting customer data.
