Yes. YouTube’s published limits allow up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key at the same time. Two concurrent streams are within those limits, provided your channel is eligible and each stream is configured correctly. The limit does not, by itself, mean YouTube offers a built-in feature to upload a video and automatically loop it as a live stream: prerecorded video needs to be sent as an encoder feed, and the particular playback or automation method must be checked separately.
What YouTube’s limits mean for two streams
YouTube’s current Help guidance sets two simultaneous caps: a channel can have up to 10 active streams, and each stream key can have up to 3 active streams. Both apply at once. So two active streams on one channel are allowed by the published caps, as long as neither cap is exceeded.

These are platform limits, not a guarantee that every encoder, playback tool, or automation service can produce two separate feeds. YouTube’s instructions cover setting up multiple live streams generally; they do not specifically certify every method of automatically replaying prerecorded files as live feeds.
Check channel eligibility before setting up
- Your channel must be verified and live streaming must be enabled.
- The channel must not have a live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days.
- Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours.
Check the channel’s status in YouTube Studio before scheduling events. If live streaming is not enabled yet, allow for the activation delay rather than planning to start immediately.

Set up two separate live events
Create two distinct events in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Each event has its own watch page and must receive the appropriate encoder feed. YouTube’s published workflow can be repeated for multiple simultaneous streams within its active-stream limits.
- Schedule the first event. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach Live Control Room, then create or schedule the first stream.
- Schedule the second event. Create another event rather than assuming one event can display two independent prerecorded videos.
- Connect each event to an encoder feed. For each event, use the stream URL and stream key associated with that event. Confirm that the feed is connected to the intended event before going live.
- Preview and start the feeds. In the encoder, start the appropriate feed and check its preview in Live Control Room. Repeat for the other event, observing both the channel and per-key active-stream caps.
- End each event cleanly. Stop its encoder feed, then end that event in Live Control Room. Repeat for the other stream when it is finished.
For prerecorded material, configure an encoder or playback workflow to send the selected video as the event’s live feed. Do not assume that scheduling an event in YouTube Studio automatically uploads, loops, or broadcasts a video file.

Plan bandwidth and local encoding capacity
If both feeds are sent from your location, plan for their combined outgoing bitrate—not just the bitrate of either stream by itself. YouTube advises that the total bitrate sent must stay within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% of that capacity unused. For example, if the two feeds together use most of your upload capacity, network fluctuations may cause instability even if each feed works on its own.
Local hardware or software encoding also uses your computer’s processing capacity. YouTube does not give one universal CPU specification for running two feeds; actual demand depends on the encoding workload and setup. Monitor the encoder and network while both streams are active. A cloud relay can reduce the local processing and upload burden in some workflows, but it does not bypass YouTube’s active-stream limits, and YouTube’s guidance on relay services does not identify one as a specific solution for two events on the same channel.

Understand archives and long-running streams
YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after the encoder feed is stopped. That is an archive statement, not a universal maximum live-stream duration. YouTube separately notes that DVR rewind may be limited on streams longer than 12 hours.
Troubleshooting two concurrent feeds
The second stream will not start
Check the active-stream count on the channel and the number of active streams using that key. The published caps are 10 streams per channel and 3 per key, applied simultaneously. Also confirm that live streaming is enabled and that the channel has no recent live-streaming restriction.

The wrong event appears to be receiving the video
Compare the encoder’s stream URL and key with the details for the intended event in Live Control Room. Each event needs the correct feed connection; stop the mismatched feed and connect it to the right event before restarting.

The feed drops, buffers, or fails to stay stable
Check the combined outgoing bitrate against available upload bandwidth and leave YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. If encoding locally, check whether the computer is sustaining both encoding workloads. Reduce the demands on the local setup or use a workflow that handles the feeds outside that computer, then verify each event preview before relying on it.

The stream is live but does not replay the file as expected
Check the encoder or playback tool’s own loop, playlist, and scheduling behavior. YouTube’s multiple-stream instructions do not establish that a particular prerecorded-video automation tool is supported or behaves in a specific way.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Copyright and channel-policy checks for prerecorded video
Using prerecorded material does not remove the need to have the rights and permissions required to broadcast it. Check the music, video, and other material in each feed before scheduling. YouTube’s published multiple-stream guidance establishes stream limits and setup steps; it does not certify a particular video’s copyright status or guarantee that reused material will qualify for monetization. Review YouTube’s applicable policies for the content and channel before broadcasting.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a prerecorded YouTube stream that should keep running without a home computer, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Each slot includes one always-on stream, so two simultaneous streams require a separate slot for each stream. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
