3uTools cannot unlock every kind of iPhone lock. Its own guide says it cannot remove or bypass iCloud or Apple Account Activation Lock. A carrier restriction must be removed by the current carrier, while a forgotten passcode is handled through Apple’s erase-and-recover process. First identify which lock you are facing; the right solution depends on it.
Which kind of iPhone lock do you have?
People use “unlock iPhone” to describe three separate problems. The message or symptom on the screen tells you which path to follow.

What 3uTools can and cannot do
3uTools’ own 2017 guide says the utility cannot remove or bypass iCloud or Apple ID Activation Lock. It describes backing up, erasing and restoring after a carrier has applied an unlock, but says the carrier must perform that unlock. Those older instructions are background, not a substitute for Apple’s current guidance for your device.

It warns that retaining user data leaves the device disabled and that the phone must be activated afterward. Flashing may erase data; it does not bypass Activation Lock. For current recovery directions, use Apple’s support instructions rather than assuming a utility tutorial applies to your iPhone or iOS version.

If you want to use the iPhone with another carrier
- On the iPhone, open Settings > General > About and check the value beside Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means the phone is unlocked.
- If it is carrier-locked, contact the current carrier and ask about its eligibility rules and request process. Requirements and handling depend on the carrier and account.
- After the carrier confirms the unlock, follow its instructions and any applicable Apple setup guidance. Apple Support states, “Only your current carrier can unlock your iPhone.”

If you forgot your passcode or the iPhone is disabled
A passcode reset is not a way to preserve the data currently on the phone: Apple’s reset process erases the iPhone. You can restore data afterward if you have a backup. It also does not remove Activation Lock, so the Apple Account associated with the device may still be needed during setup.

Check whether Apple’s on-device reset is available
If you recently changed the passcode, first check whether Apple’s Passcode Reset option is available for your situation. Otherwise, the on-device reset path has requirements, including a supported iOS version, a network connection, Find My enabled, and the Apple Account credentials. Apple’s forgotten passcode instructions explain the current options.
Reset with a Mac or PC
Apple’s computer-based recovery route requires a Mac or PC, an internet connection and a cable that can charge the iPhone. Follow Apple’s instructions for the specific device and recovery mode. Do not assume that flashing with a third-party tool will preserve data or resolve the account authorization required after an erase.

If you see “iPhone Locked to Owner”
Activation Lock is tied to the Apple Account used with Find My. Enter the Apple Account and password linked to the iPhone. If it belonged to someone else, ask that previous owner to remove it from their account. Erasing or flashing the phone does not authorize a new owner to activate it.
If you own the device and have proof of purchase, Apple provides an Activation Lock support request. If you are considering a used iPhone, do not complete the purchase while setup still asks for the previous owner’s credentials; have the owner remove the device from their account first. 3uTools or a paid “bypass” service cannot turn an Activation-Locked device into an authorized, fully usable phone.
