If CameraFi Live cannot see a video saved on your Android phone, check its media permission first: open Settings > Apps > CameraFi Live > Permissions and allow the relevant access shown on your device. Then reopen the app, swipe to its menu, and choose Video. Android permission names and CameraFi Live’s file access can vary by Android and app version, so the exact toggle may differ.
1. Allow CameraFi Live to access media
- Leave CameraFi Live and open your phone’s Settings.
- Tap Apps, select CameraFi Live, then tap Permissions. If CameraFi Live is not immediately listed, open the full app list.
- Look for a denied permission related to media or files and allow it. Depending on your Android version and device interface, the label may be Photos and videos, Files, or the older Storage.
- Return to CameraFi Live and try selecting the video again.
Android Help documents the general permission path as Settings > Apps > [app] > Permissions. The CameraFi Live Google Play listing names READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and describes it as being used “To get photos,” but that does not mean every current Android device will display that exact permission. Android media-access rules depend on the OS version and how the app accesses media.

2. Select the video inside CameraFi Live
CameraFi Live supports video files as a live-streaming source. In the app, swipe to open the menu and tap Video to select a source. Its Android beginner guide also describes a Gallery control for internal storage.
3. If the video still does not appear
- Check that it is on the phone. Find the clip in the phone’s own file manager or gallery. A file that is only available through a cloud service may not be present as a local file.
- Reopen CameraFi Live. After confirming the clip is visible locally and allowing access, return to the app and try its Video source again.
- Contact CameraFi support if the permission and file both check out. Consult the CameraFi tutorials and FAQ, or email [email protected]. Include your phone model, Android version, CameraFi Live version, where the file is saved, and what the app displays; these details can help explain the problem.
The available CameraFi guidance does not establish a complete supported format or codec list, exact folder-scanning rules, or how every Android version’s picker works in the current app. If a locally visible clip remains missing after access is allowed, CameraFi support is the appropriate route for app-specific diagnosis.

Why permission labels differ across Android versions
Android’s permission categories and media-access rules have changed over time. Android Developers explains that access depends on the Android version and whether media belongs to the app or was created by another app; for example, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is relevant on Android 9 and lower, and in some cases where scoped storage has been temporarily opted out of. Those platform rules do not establish which exact implementation the current CameraFi Live release uses on your device.
Google Play policy also urges apps that need one-time or infrequent photo and video access to use the Android system picker rather than broad media permissions. That policy helps explain why a newer device may not show the same permission prompt or label as older instructions, but it does not identify CameraFi Live’s particular implementation.
