Recommended Free Tools
Calendarist was described at launch as a free Google Calendar companion for time-blocking and reviewing how you spent your time. Product Hunt’s alternatives page surfaces tools for basic calendaring, personal planning, automatic scheduling, and team coordination—but it is a discovery list, not a verified current feature comparison. The right alternative depends on whether you want to understand past calendar activity, plan future days, or coordinate calendars and work with others.
What Calendarist did—and what is known about it now
Product Hunt says Calendarist launched in 2020 as a free time-blocking app that worked with Google Calendar and helped users see their daily lives more clearly while pursuing goals. In the launch discussion, maker Emily Su said the app let people tag and categorize calendar events, connect time blocks to longer-term goals, and visualize how they spent their time. She clarified that, at launch, Calendarist focused on insights from past events and assumed users were already time-blocking in Google Calendar. Product Hunt’s Calendarist profile and launch discussion describe that historical product; they do not establish its current features or availability.

That retrospective focus is the key distinction when choosing an alternative. If you want to review how your time was spent, look for analytics or tracking. If you need help building a schedule, look for planning or automatic time-blocking features. Product Hunt’s Calendarist alternatives page offers leads across those categories, but its tags do not independently verify present-day functionality.

How to choose an alternative to Calendarist
Decide whether you need hindsight or help planning ahead
Calendarist’s launch-era description emphasized reviewing past events. For that kind of retrospective use, investigate whether a candidate provides the tracking, tagging, or analytics you need. If the priority is constructing a future day, focus instead on products explicitly positioned for daily planning or scheduling. Product Hunt’s listings describe options such as BeforeSunset AI and FlowSavvy in planning terms, while Reclaim and Clockwise are tagged for automatic time blocking. Those labels are useful leads, not proof of current feature behavior.

Choose manual or automatic time blocking
Manual time blocking gives you direct control over when work appears on your calendar. Automatic time blocking may reduce scheduling effort, but you should check how a product handles priorities, conflicts, changes, and events you do not want moved. Product Hunt tags several alternatives for time blocking and specifically tags Reclaim and Clockwise for automatic time blocking. The listing alone does not establish how either product’s automation works today.

If you manage more than one calendar, investigate account and calendar support before committing. Product Hunt tags Morgen and BeforeSunset AI for multi-calendar support, but does not establish applicable limits or the details of their current integrations. Verify those points directly with the vendor.

Separate personal planning from team coordination
The maker’s launch description framed Calendarist around personal time use. Cron’s listing, by contrast, refers to professionals and teams. Decide whether you need individual planning, shared availability, meeting coordination, or some combination; a product’s category label is not a substitute for checking its current collaboration features.
Decide whether you need tasks and projects as well as a calendar
Product Hunt categorizes or tags Sunsama and Reclaim in ways that include project management. If tasks or projects are central to your day, check how they fit into each candidate’s current workflow and which integrations are supported. The alternatives listing does not establish feature depth or compatibility.

What Product Hunt’s list can—and cannot—tell you
The alternatives page is useful for discovering products in adjacent categories, from standard calendars to AI-assisted planning and automatic time blocking. It does not prove that an alternative reproduces Calendarist’s launch-era tagging and retrospective insights, nor does it establish current pricing, availability, platforms, or feature parity. Product Hunt ratings and review counts are platform-specific and can change; they should not be treated as stable quality scores or evidence of market share.
Calendarist’s linked site, trycalendarist.com, returned no readable page content in the available check, so its current availability and offer remain unverified. The launch and Product Hunt profile are historical references, not confirmation of a present-day service.
