Its rated A4 speeds are 20 images per minute (ipm) in mono and 19 ipm in color. Brother’s US specifications also list a 150-sheet tray, 20-sheet ADF, and automatic two-sided printing. Some US specification material groups the J4335DW with the neighboring J4345DW and J4535DW models, so check the model-specific row rather than assuming a grouped feature applies to this printer. Brother US specifications are the relevant reference for that market.

How it performs for everyday documents
RTINGS rates the MFC-J4335DW as a good option for home use and small offices. Its review reports clear, detailed document output, fast document printing, strong scan quality, high page yields, and relatively low cost per print. RTINGS updated its review on September 25, 2026, to Test Bench 1.4.1 and says that the update did not affect the test scores. The ADF helps when scanning or copying a multi-page stack, but it does not scan both sides of pages automatically. The printer can automatically print on both sides; that is different from duplex scanning. If two-sided originals are part of your routine, you will need to turn them over yourself or choose a model with duplex scanning.

Photo quality and the main trade-offs
RTINGS describes photo output as acceptable for casual home use, but reports graininess and limited color accuracy compared with photo-oriented alternatives. It is suitable for occasional snapshots where convenience matters more than faithful color or fine detail; it is not the obvious choice for photo-first printing.
- Small paper supply: the 150-sheet main tray can mean frequent reloading in a busy office or household.
- No automatic duplex scanning: the ADF does not capture both sides of a two-sided original in one pass.

Brother Canada identifies the LC406BKS as the standard-yield black INKvestment Tank cartridge compatible with the MFC-J4335DW. Brother lists an approximate yield of up to 3,000 pages for this cartridge, based on ISO/IEC 24711; actual yield varies with page content and use. RTINGS characterizes the printer’s ink yields as high and its cost per print as low, but a current cost-per-page figure depends on local printer and ink prices and on the coverage used in a calculation. Check the price of the exact LC406 supplies in your country and compare it with your expected print volume rather than treating a general running-cost description as a market-specific quote.

A good fit
- You regularly print school, household, or work documents.
- You want print, copy, scan, and fax functions in one device.
- You will use the ADF for multi-page jobs and can manage without automatic duplex scanning.
- You have room to reload a relatively small paper tray and expect to use the printer often enough to avoid long idle stretches.
Look elsewhere if
- You print only a few times a year and want to minimize the risk of inkjet clogs during long periods of inactivity.
