It uses an asymmetrical, Xbox-style stick layout instead of the PlayStation-style symmetrical one. “Xbox-style” describes the layout only. Nothing Brook has published says the StarRay works with Xbox consoles. Everything below comes from Brook’s own announcement (October 6, 2026), product page, support page and store listing. It is not independent testing.
What the StarRay is
Brook announced the controller on October 6, 2026 under the headline “Native PS5 Support Meets Xbox-Style Control.” The pitch is a PS5-compatible pad for players who prefer the offset left stick and lower right stick of an Xbox pad. Brook’s product page puts it this way: “Natively compatible with PS5、STEAM、iOS、Android、PC, all while continuing Brook’s signature cross-platform versatility.”

Setup: the firmware step
Some units need a one-time firmware update from a PC before the app can be used. Brook’s support page lists StarRay firmware v1.2.0.7, dated September 2026. Its web update tool needs a PC and Google Chrome. If you only own a console, you may still need access to a PC for this first step.
Price and availability
Brook says the StarRay is sold through the Brook Amazon Store and its official online shop. When Brook’s store page was indexed on October 7, 2026, it showed $64.99 and “Out of stock.” Stock and price may differ by marketplace, region and time, so check the live listing before you buy. The store page says orders ship from Taiwan and buyers may owe import duties.

What isn’t established
The listed specs are the manufacturer’s claims. The official pages give no independent results on latency, comfort, long-term durability or stick-drift resistance. They also name no competing model for comparison. If you’re shortlisting controllers, compare on the same points: platform support, stick layout, wireless and wired options, back buttons, battery and weight, headset jack, setup requirements, price and real stock. Don’t assume the StarRay beats any rival on feel or performance until reviewers have tested it.
