Conditional verdict: NVIDIA is the stronger fit for an investor who prioritizes the larger reported data-center business and the lower forward P/E in two October 2026 market snapshots. Broadcom is the more targeted way to invest in custom AI accelerators and networking, where its reported semiconductor revenue is growing faster. These are different businesses and different revenue categories, so neither stock is an automatic winner for every portfolio.

What the latest results actually measure

The companies report on different fiscal calendars and do not use equivalent AI-revenue definitions. Broadcom’s latest reviewed quarter was fiscal Q3 2026, ended August 2, 2026. NVIDIA’s was fiscal Q2 2027, ended July 26, 2026.

Company and period Reported measure Latest result Growth or outlook
Broadcom, fiscal Q3 2026 AI semiconductor revenue $16.7 billion Up 221% year over year and 54% sequentially; Broadcom forecast $21.7 billion for fiscal Q4
NVIDIA, fiscal Q2 2027 Data Center revenue $89.0 billion Up 117% year over year; total company revenue was $96.2 billion

Broadcom’s figure covers the AI semiconductor category it reports, driven by custom accelerators and networking. NVIDIA’s Data Center category is broader than GPUs alone. Because the categories differ, the dollar amounts and growth rates cannot be used to calculate a precise market-share comparison. The figures and guidance come from the companies’ releases: Broadcom fiscal Q3 2026 results and NVIDIA fiscal Q2 2027 results.

Two different ways to benefit from AI infrastructure

Broadcom: custom silicon and networking

Broadcom’s AI thesis is built around supplying custom accelerators designed for large customers and the networking needed to connect AI systems. Its $16.7 billion AI semiconductor result shows very rapid expansion in the reported quarter, while the $21.7 billion fiscal Q4 forecast indicates management expects that momentum to continue in the near term.

  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis

“Demand for our custom AI accelerators and networking continues to be very strong,” Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan said in the company’s results release. He described the $16.7 billion figure as up 221% year over year and 54% quarter over quarter.

This is a more concentrated exposure to particular infrastructure programs. The investment case depends on customers continuing to fund custom designs and network expansion, rather than on every form of data-center spending growing at the same rate.

NVIDIA: a larger reported data-center platform

NVIDIA’s $89.0 billion Data Center quarter was much larger in absolute dollars, but it includes a wider set of data-center products and systems than Broadcom’s AI semiconductor line. NVIDIA also guided to $108.0 billion in total revenue for fiscal Q3, plus or minus 2%; that outlook is for the company as a whole, not Data Center alone.

“AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue,” NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang said in the fiscal Q2 2027 release. This is management’s characterization of demand, not an independent forecast.

  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

NVIDIA therefore offers broader participation in the current data-center buildout, while also carrying the expectations and execution burden that come with a much larger revenue base.

How the forward valuations compare

Two third-party comparison pages available in October 2026 put NVIDIA below Broadcom on forward P/E, but they do not show exactly the same estimate. Forward P/E is calculated from forecast earnings, so it changes when prices or analyst estimates change and is not a company-reported metric.

Both snapshots show the same ordering, with NVIDIA’s forward multiple lower than Broadcom’s. That does not prove NVIDIA is undervalued: the ratio relies on earnings forecasts, and a lower multiple can reflect different growth expectations, risk assessments or estimate timing. Risks that can change the thesis

NVIDIA’s infrastructure and customer risks

NVIDIA’s latest Form 10-Q says deployment can be constrained by the availability of land, power, shell and capital needed for data-center construction. Delays in any of those inputs can push out customer installations and revenue recognition.

  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

The filing also discusses customer concentration. A small number of large customers can therefore have an outsized effect on results if their capital plans change. In addition, China-related export restrictions and related inventory charges can reduce what NVIDIA can sell into affected markets or create costs for products that cannot be shipped as planned. Read the company’s filing for the detailed risk disclosures: NVIDIA Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026.

Broadcom’s demand and concentration questions

Broadcom’s reported growth is tied specifically to custom accelerator and networking programs. Investors should test whether the fiscal Q4 forecast is being met and whether growth is broadening across customers and projects. A slowdown in a major program would matter more when a category is concentrated in a limited number of very large deployments.

What to monitor after buying or adding either stock

  1. Reconcile the reporting periods. Compare each company with its own prior quarters before drawing conclusions from cross-company percentages.
  2. Track the same revenue definition. Keep Broadcom’s AI semiconductor series separate from NVIDIA’s Data Center series; do not combine them into a single market-size calculation.
  3. Update the valuation. Forward P/E can move daily with the share price and whenever analyst earnings estimates change.
  4. Read guidance alongside results. Broadcom’s $21.7 billion fiscal Q4 AI semiconductor forecast and NVIDIA’s $108.0 billion total-revenue fiscal Q3 outlook are management targets, not guaranteed outcomes.
  5. Recheck constraints and policy. For NVIDIA, follow data-center capacity, customer concentration and China export developments; for Broadcom, watch whether custom-accelerator and networking demand remains diversified and on schedule.
