Bracketron introduced its Snap2.0 charger family in January 2015 with two models: a household charger and a vehicle charger for a 12-volt outlet. Their distinguishing feature was Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, rather than the reversible connector and multi-device emphasis of Bracketron’s then-new EZCharge line. The launch report listed prices of $29.99 for the home model and $24.99 for the vehicle model, and reported charging claims that applied only to compatible devices. Snap2.0 is now best understood as a legacy accessory, not a universal recommendation for modern phones.
What Bracketron launched
The Snap2.0 was a two-product family reported by Android Headlines on January 6, 2015:
- Home Snap2.0: a charger for household power, announced at $29.99.
- Vehicle Snap2.0: a charger intended for a car’s 12V outlet, announced at $24.99.
The headline technology was Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0, which was beginning to appear in flagship Android phones such as the Droid Turbo, Nexus 6, Galaxy Note 4 and HTC One M8. The report said Snap2.0 did not offer EZCharge’s dual-device connection feature; its selling point was faster charging for one compatible phone.
How Quick Charge 2.0 worked
Quick Charge 2.0 was not simply a USB adapter with a larger current number. It required a compatible phone, a compliant adapter and charging-control hardware that negotiated an appropriate voltage and current. Qualcomm explains that the phone and charger communicate over the USB data lines, while the system manages power and safety.

In Qualcomm’s controlled test, a 3,300mAh Quick Charge 2.0 device reached 60% from empty in 30 minutes, compared with 12% using a conventional 5V/1A charger. Qualcomm also marketed reductions of up to 75% in charging time. Those figures were company-reported laboratory comparisons, not a guarantee for every phone or every Snap2.0 installation. Charging normally slows as a battery approaches full. Temperature, battery size and age, cable resistance, phone use and vehicle conditions can reduce the rate further. Qualcomm described Quick Charge 2.0 as usable with several connector formats, but that general capability does not prove that a particular Snap2.0 unit is suitable for a modern USB-C phone.

Which phones were named as compatible?
The 2015 launch coverage listed these examples:
- Motorola Droid Turbo
- Google Nexus 6
- Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge
- HTC Desire Eye and HTC One M8
- Sony Xperia Z3
- LG G3
This is a contemporaneous list, not a current compatibility database. Qualcomm said Quick Charge 2.0 was available on many devices using Snapdragon 800-, 600- and 400-series processors, but a processor family alone was not enough. The phone maker had to enable the feature in the device.
Qualcomm’s FAQ states that Quick Charge must be designed into the product and that a certified or compliant adapter is required for Quick Charge behavior. A non-compatible phone can generally draw power from the adapter, but it will not receive the negotiated Quick Charge 2.0 benefit. Quick Charge cannot be added later through an app or cable. Snap2.0 performance claims versus verified testing

The available launch coverage does not establish Snap2.0’s exact voltage profiles, input range, dimensions, cable inclusion, certification number or measured output. Those specifications should not be inferred from Qualcomm’s platform-level limits.
Snap2.0 versus Bracketron EZCharge
Bracketron’s December 2014 EZCharge announcement focused on convenience: reversible USB insertion and, in some vehicle models, dual 3.4A output. The cited coverage is at Twice.

EZCharge’s greater total amperage did not automatically make it faster for one Quick Charge-compatible phone, and the cited EZCharge report does not establish Quick Charge 2.0 support.

- Confirm the exact phone model. Do not rely only on a Snapdragon processor label.
- Confirm Quick Charge 2.0 support. The manufacturer had to enable it in firmware and hardware.
- Use a compliant adapter and suitable cable. Connector fit does not prove charging-protocol compatibility.
- Choose the right format. Select the home model for an outlet or the vehicle model for a 12V socket.
- Consider heat and use. Navigation, sunlight, a hot cabin and an aging battery can all reduce charging speed.
- Decide whether one port is enough. Snap2.0’s reported advantage was speed, not multi-device connectivity.
Is Snap2.0 relevant in 2026?
Only as a legacy charger for an appropriately compatible older phone. Modern devices may use USB-C Power Delivery, a newer Quick Charge generation or a manufacturer-specific system. A 2015 Quick Charge 2.0 adapter should not be assumed to provide the right mode, cable arrangement or power profile for a current USB-C handset.

Bracketron’s current catalog emphasizes PwrUp mounts and wireless-charging products, and does not show an evident Snap2.0 listing: Bracketron’s catalog. It does not establish current Snap2.0 stock, warranty coverage, replacement parts or resale value. Treat marketplace and used listings cautiously, especially when certification and authenticity cannot be verified.
Current PwrUp products are not direct wired Snap2.0 replacements. The catalog lists phone-mount products such as the $39.99 PwrUp TripGrip Window, Dash & Vent Mount, the $44.99 PwrUp MagAlign Wireless Car Charger Mount, the $49.99 PwrUp MagAlign Extend Car Cell Phone Mount and the $64.99 PwrUp Automatic Dash/Window/Vent Mount. These are relevant to readers seeking a wireless charging mount, not a simple home USB adapter, a standalone 12V charger or Quick Charge 2.0 specifically.
Bottom line
Snap2.0 was a meaningful 2015 launch because it offered Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 in both household and vehicle formats. Its reported speed depended on a compatible, properly enabled phone and compliant charger; the 2.4A fallback was not equivalent to Quick Charge. Today, it is mainly of historical or legacy-device interest. For a modern phone, choose a charger based on that handset’s current charging standard rather than the Snap2.0 name.
