The Bosch SMP66MX05A is a 60 cm built-under Series 6 dishwasher with 15-place capacity, but Bosch Australia lists this exact model as no longer available. It may still matter if you own one or are considering a second-hand unit; treat its published specifications as manufacturer claims, not the results of an independent test.
What the SMP66MX05A is—and whether it will fit
Bosch describes the SMP66MX05A as a built-under dishwasher with a black inox exterior, hidden controls on the top edge of the door and a stainless-steel interior tub. Its listed dimensions are 815–875 mm high, 598 mm wide and 573 mm deep. The published capacity is 15 place settings.

Those dimensions are a starting point, not a substitute for checking your kitchen opening. Before buying or replacing one, consult the model’s installation instructions for cutout and service-access requirements, and confirm the exact appliance suffix on its rating plate.
Programs and options
The Bosch specification sheet lists six programs. The 29-minute Quick Wash is expressly an express program and requires rinse aid; it should not be treated as a full substitute for a longer wash on a heavily soiled load.

Listed options are SpeedPerfect, which Bosch says can make a cycle up to 50% faster, HalfLoad and ExtraDry. The Machine Care program is described by Bosch as helping remove grime and limescale buildup; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent performance finding.
Rack flexibility, noise and drying
The loading features include a VarioDrawer third level for cutlery and utensils, a height-adjustable upper basket with RackmaticPlus, foldable supports, a movable lower cutlery basket, and racks for tall or champagne glasses. These specifications indicate adjustment options, but do not establish how convenient the racks are in everyday loading.

Bosch rates the dishwasher at 44 dB and specifies heat-exchanger drying. An InfoLight on the floor indicates that the appliance is operating. One ProductReview.com.au owner reported that the display on the top of the door went dark when the door was closed, making the remaining time unavailable to view. That is an individual account, not evidence of a model-wide defect or its frequency.

Bosch Australia’s specification sheet, indexed as published approximately 2024, lists 12.2 litres per Eco wash under the stated cold-water connection and applicable Australian/New Zealand test method. It lists 245 kWh per year on the assumption of seven Eco cycles a week. The sheet’s exact issue date was not confirmed, so the approximate indexing date should not be read as a precise publication date.

The same sheet lists a 4-star energy rating and a 5-star WELS water rating (registration D02607); Bosch’s product page also lists 4.0 energy stars and 5.0 water stars. These are manufacturer-listed label figures, not estimates of an individual household’s bills. Actual consumption and running cost vary with use, program, water connection and local tariffs.
What the available reviews do—and do not—show
CHOICE has a model page identifying the SMP66MX05A as a built-in dishwasher and displaying some specifications, including capacity and the stated energy and water figures. Its Expert Rating and test results for washing, drying, energy, noise and program time are not visible on the public page. There is therefore no accessible CHOICE score here to support a comparative performance verdict.

Bosch retains a support page for SMP66MX05A/01 with the user manual, installation instructions, supplements, specification sheet, CAD file, self-help topics and spare-parts lookup. Before ordering parts, check the full E-Nr suffix on the appliance rating plate and match it to the support listing.
Who should consider this model?
For an existing owner, the retained documentation and parts lookup are useful starting points for installation information and maintenance. A second-hand buyer should first verify the appliance’s condition, exact model and suffix, fit, service access and parts availability. The published feature list may help assess whether its programs and rack layout suit your needs, but the available evidence does not establish tested cleaning performance or long-term reliability.
If you compare it with a currently available dishwasher, use like-for-like measures: installation type and dimensions, capacity and rack flexibility, independent washing and drying tests, energy and water figures on comparable program and test bases, noise, display behavior, parts access, warranty, price and availability. Star labels and consumption figures from different regions or test assumptions are not automatically comparable.
