You can keep Bootstrap’s button classes and add a small amount of custom CSS for hover, keyboard-focus, and press feedback. The key is to make motion optional and keep the action understandable without it.
What “Bootstrap Buttons V20” means
The label “V20” cannot be tied to an identifiable Bootstrap release or button collection based on the available evidence. Bootstrap’s documented button component is the practical starting point: its .btn class works with button variants and can be used on <button>, <a>, and input elements. The official documentation is for Bootstrap v5.3 buttons.

That distinction matters if you are looking for downloadable “best” examples: there is no verified V20 set to rank here. Instead, use Bootstrap’s standard component as the foundation, then add project-specific animation only where it improves feedback.
Start with the right Bootstrap button
Choose markup according to what the control does. Use a semantic button for an action, such as opening a dialog or submitting a form. A link is for navigation; if a link triggers an in-page action rather than navigating, Bootstrap’s documentation says to give it role="button".

<button type="button" class="btn btn-primary motion-button">Save changes</button>
<a class="btn btn-primary" href="/help/">Read the help page</a>
<a class="btn btn-primary" role="button" href="#details">Show details</a>
Bootstrap’s .btn base class is a styling foundation, not a complete design specification. In particular, its documentation notes that a bare .btn has no explicit focus or focus-visible styles by default. Add a visible keyboard indicator rather than relying on hover feedback.
Add a restrained hover, focus, and press effect
This example keeps Bootstrap’s structure and adds a project-specific class. It is custom CSS, not a built-in Bootstrap animation preset.

The transition gives pointer users brief movement on hover and press; :focus-visible supplies a separate cue for keyboard navigation. The reduced-motion rule removes the nonessential movement when a visitor’s operating-system or browser preference requests less motion. Choose focus colors and button backgrounds that remain visually distinct in your actual design.

| Consideration | Bootstrap button foundation | Custom CSS motion |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Provides button variants and interaction states for controls. | Adds project-specific movement or shadow feedback. |
| Keyboard focus | A bare .btn does not include explicit focus or focus-visible styles by default, according to the v5.3 button docs. |
Can add a visible :focus-visible indicator; it must be designed and checked by the author. |
| Reduced motion | Bootstrap documents reduced-motion handling for framework transitions. | Should include its own prefers-reduced-motion treatment. |
| Meaning | Button text and semantics identify the action; color alone is not enough. | Should remain decorative or supplementary, never the only way to understand the action or status. |
Bootstrap’s v5.2 accessibility documentation says most framework transitions are disabled when reduced motion is requested, while meaningful animations such as spinners are slowed. A custom effect is your responsibility: framework behavior does not automatically cover your added CSS.

Accessibility checks before shipping
- Check the label: Use visible text that clearly describes the action. Do not make the action’s meaning depend on button color or animation; Bootstrap warns that color alone does not communicate meaning to screen-reader users.
- Check contrast: Verify text against the button background in its normal and interactive states.
- Check the keyboard path: Tab to each control and confirm focus is easy to locate. Test focus feedback separately from pointer hover.
- Check reduced motion: Enable the reduced-motion preference in your test environment and confirm nonessential custom movement is removed or simplified.
- Check disabled and status states: Ensure users can tell when an action is unavailable or when a process is running without relying on motion alone.
Bootstrap explicitly frames accessibility as dependent on the author’s markup, custom styles, and scripting. Using the framework does not by itself make a finished interface accessible.

For routine actions, a short positional or shadow change can offer feedback without competing with the button’s label. If motion communicates a state, such as an operation in progress, provide a non-motion cue as well. Avoid animating critical text or making a control appear to move in a way that obscures where it can be activated.
Rank #4
Prefer a subtle change that works across mouse, touch, and keyboard use. Hover-only effects are not sufficient interaction feedback: touchscreens have no persistent hover, and keyboard users need a visible focus state. Keep the component’s semantic role and accessible name stable as its appearance changes.
