The BLOOMIN8 10-Inch E-Ink Canvas is a colour art and photo display designed for cordless placement at home. BLOOMIN8 lists an E Ink Spectra 6 screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, app-based sharing, a 5,000 mAh battery, and options for local workflows. Its Kickstarter description specifies 1600 × 1200 resolution at 200 PPI; the advertised battery life of up to one year is a company claim, not an independently measured result.

What is the BLOOMIN8 10-Inch E-Ink Canvas?

It is a 10-inch electronic-ink display intended to show colour artwork and photos without the continuously glowing appearance of a conventional LCD frame. BLOOMIN8 describes the display as E Ink Spectra 6 and says its image remains visible without being plugged in. The company frames it as a home canvas that can change images, rather than a tablet or general-purpose screen.

The manufacturer’s product page lists 200 DPI, while its Kickstarter description specifies a 1600 × 1200 resolution and 200 PPI. These are BLOOMIN8’s published specifications; no independent hands-on review of this 10-inch model was established in the available sources.

How artwork and photo sharing work

BLOOMIN8 advertises photo sharing, playlists, schedules, reminders, in-app editing and AI art. It also says its library contains more than 10,000 artworks. These are manufacturer-described capabilities and a manufacturer-reported library size, not independently tested results. The company’s aim is to let an owner rotate images or artwork on a schedule instead of leaving a single print or photo in place.

  • 10.85inch e-Paper display (G), e-ink display, 1360x480, Red/Yellow/Black/White, SPI Interface

The 48-colours-per-pixel statement appears in the campaign description and is specific to BLOOMIN8’s account of waveform tuning for this display. The product page’s broader full-colour and dithering description does not establish that the canvas looks like a phone or LCD frame; e-paper uses a different display approach, and no independent comparison of the 10-inch model is available here.

Battery, charging, and always-visible images

BLOOMIN8 advertises “up to one year” of battery life for the 10-inch model and lists a 5,000 mAh battery with USB-C charging. The company does not state a test protocol or usage pattern alongside that maximum figure in the cited product information, so actual time between charges is not established.

  • Provide online user manual (examples for Raspberry Pi/Jetson Nano/Arduino/STM32), please check the manual carefully before using!
  • This is an E-Ink raw display, 7.5inch, 800×480 resolution, with embedded controller, communicating via SPI interface.
  • Due to the advantages like ultra low power consumption, wide viewing angle, clear display without electricity, it is an ideal choice for applications such as shelf label, industrial instrument, and so on.
  • No backlight, keeps displaying last content for a long time even when power down
  • Ultra low power consumption, basically power is only required for refreshing

The company’s FAQ says the displayed image remains visible if the battery runs out. That means a depleted battery does not necessarily make the current image disappear, but it does not establish that wireless connections, scheduled changes, or other functions continue without power.

Can it work without cloud-dependent workflows?

BLOOMIN8 lists microSD, its Desktop App, Home Assistant and an open API as local-oriented options. Those options may matter if you want to manage content within a home network or integrate the display with a home-automation setup. The product page does not, by itself, specify which features require an account, an internet connection, or cloud services, so check the current setup documentation for the workflow you plan to use.

Is the 10-inch size a good fit?

The practical question is whether a 10-inch e-paper canvas suits the viewing distance and role you have in mind. For a desk, shelf or smaller wall display, its listed tabletop stand and magnetic placement offer different positioning approaches. If you expect a bright, fast-changing screen or want a large statement piece across a room, confirm the display’s appearance and refresh behavior in person before deciding: the available product claims do not include an independent viewing or refresh test.

  • Consider it if: you want a small colour artwork or photo display, prefer a non-glowing screen, and value battery-powered placement and scheduled content.
  • Check first if: image fidelity, colour expectations, refresh speed, wall mounting details, or a particular local-control workflow are essential to you.
  • Compare carefully: the 10-inch model’s dimensions and resolution with the space where it will sit; the available specifications identify screen size and pixel resolution, but do not establish independent image-quality performance.

Campaign status, price, and availability

BLOOMIN8’s home page says the 10-inch campaign is live on Kickstarter. Its product landing page still uses “Launching Soon” language and refers to an August launch, so the company’s pages are not consistent in their launch wording. The home page is the clearer live-campaign indicator in the available material, but neither source establishes current reward availability, price, delivery estimate or successful fulfillment. Check the live campaign terms before pledging. No Amazon listing was verified.

What is verified—and what is not

The cited sources are BLOOMIN8’s own product information and Kickstarter description. They establish what the manufacturer says the device includes, but not how it performs in independent testing. In particular, no independent hands-on review of the 10-inch model, confirmed retail marketplace listing, or verified delivery outcome is established by those sources. BLOOMIN8’s line for the product is “A canvas that changes without the glow.”
