Is Bloodborne on PC?
Not as an officially released PC game. Sony’s PlayStation Store lists Bloodborne as a PS4 title, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and released on March 24, 2015. PlayStation’s launch announcement described it as exclusive to PS4 and confirmed a physical release as well as digital availability.

Unofficial PC projects offer another way to run the original PS4 game, but they are not Sony or FromSoftware PC ports. They require community software and, in the case of bbport, a user-provided decrypted dump of Bloodborne version 1.09. A 2026 PC Gamer report quoting former Sony executive Shuhei Yoshida likewise did not announce a PC release or a PS5 version; Yoshida expressed hope and uncertainty about whether one might happen.

The table compares documented characteristics, not a controlled head-to-head test. The PS5 listing is backward compatibility for the PS4 game, not evidence of a dedicated PS5 edition or remaster.

Performance: what the PC options mean in practice
PS4: the fixed-console experience
The PS4 version avoids PC project configuration and hardware matching. The official Store listing identifies the platform and features, but it does not provide a frame-rate or resolution specification suitable for a numerical comparison with bbport. There is no controlled, current benchmark here comparing the PS4 game with representative PC hardware.
bbport: adjustable settings, project-specific results
bbport’s README says users can choose among 30, 60, and 90 FPS modes, set output resolution as high as 2160p, use FSR upscaling, and toggle several graphics effects. These are options exposed by that project, not proof that every setting is stable or that every PC can sustain its target.

The project README reports roughly 90 FPS at 4K with FSR 4 Balanced and roughly 150 FPS at 1440p with FSR 4 Quality on an RX 7800 XT. Those are the project’s own results on its named hardware, not an independent benchmark or a prediction for other systems. Performance can vary with the project build, settings, hardware, and scene.
Why older emulator reports do not settle the comparison
A November 2025 PC Gamer report on shadPS4 version 0.12.6 described gains on its tested PC setup, but also noted setup complexity, instability, and additional mods used for stability. That report covered a different project and an earlier point in development; it should not be treated as a benchmark for bbport or as a current universal estimate.

Setup and reliability: console simplicity versus community software
What bbport requires
The README describes bbport as a Linux x86-64 project using a game-specific runtime and a Vulkan renderer derived from shadPS4. It does not include game files: users must supply their own decrypted dump of Bloodborne version 1.09. The project also warns that it may crash and says its testing was limited to the author’s PC with an RX 7800 XT and a Steam Deck. It flags NVIDIA memory-mapping issues for its experimental memory model.
The project’s “port” terminology does not mean the game’s source code was rewritten. A separate Windows fork explicitly says it is a work in progress and not yet playable on Windows, directing users to the upstream Linux build. In other words, the existence of a Windows fork should not be mistaken for a playable Windows release.

Choosing a route
- Choose PS4 if you want the official release and a simpler, supported way to play.
- Consider bbport on Linux only if you can meet its game-dump requirement and are comfortable with project-specific setup, configuration, and possible crashes.
- Do not choose the Windows fork expecting to play now: its stated status is not yet playable on Windows.
Controls, online play, and game features
Controls
PlayStation’s Store listing confirms DUALSHOCK 4 vibration, but it does not supply a complete button map. The available bbport project description does not establish a universal PC control layout either. Do not assume a standard keyboard-and-mouse scheme or identical controller behavior across community builds; check the documentation for the exact build you intend to use.

Online play
The official Store listing describes optional online play, support for up to five online players with PlayStation Plus, and terms for online features. It also warns that online features may be terminated at any time. Those PS4 listing details do not establish that online services work the same way through an unofficial PC method. The available project information does not confirm consistent online parity, so treat PC online functionality as unverified rather than equivalent.
Content and add-ons
The Store describes Bloodborne as an action role-playing game featuring combat and online play, and lists Chalice Dungeons among its features. It also lists The Old Hunters as a PS4 add-on and an Official Digital Guide add-on. These are features and catalog items associated with the official game; their licensing, availability, or compatibility through a PC community method should not be assumed.
Is Bloodborne better on PC or PS4?
There is no single measured winner in the available evidence. PS4 is the clear choice for an official, straightforward experience. A compatible Linux PC running bbport offers more adjustable performance and graphics settings, but also brings a decrypted-game-dump requirement, configuration work, hardware variation, and documented instability. Its reported frame rates are project claims for an RX 7800 XT setup, not a fair basis for promising that PC will run faster for every player.
