The BlackBerry Passport lets you assign letter-key shortcuts, use its physical keyboard as a touch surface, and adjust prediction, correction, and language settings. One important clarification: the Passport runs BlackBerry 10, not Android. The Android angle is its ability, as described in its original user guide, to install some Android apps; that does not mean the keyboard works identically in every app or that any particular app remains available today.
Set up a letter-key shortcut
Passport shortcuts are configurable actions, such as launching an app or starting a quick message. They are intended for use from the home screen or BlackBerry Hub.

- From the home screen, swipe down from the top edge and tap Settings > Shortcuts and Speed Dial.
- Press and hold the letter key you want to assign.
- If the key already has an assignment, choose Edit A Shortcut.
- Choose an available action, such as launching an app or quick compose. You can replace an existing assignment without deleting it first.
These are BlackBerry 10 shortcuts, not Android-wide keyboard commands. The BlackBerry Passport User Guide documents the setup and the home-screen/Hub context.
Use the keyboard to move the cursor and scroll
The physical keyboard also works as a touch surface. Double-tap it to open the circle of interest, then slide a finger across the keys to move the cursor within a text field. The circle of interest can also help select text.

What “for Android” means on the Passport
The Passport does not run Android. Its user guide describes installing Android apps, including through the Amazon Appstore or by installing third-party APK files, but warns that some apps may rely on services BlackBerry 10 does not support. It also cautions that apps obtained outside BlackBerry World may not have been reviewed by BlackBerry.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat documentation is historical device guidance, not confirmation that a storefront can still be accessed or that a particular app works now. It also does not establish how every Android app handles the Passport’s physical keyboard. Treat the shortcuts and typing features here as BlackBerry 10 functions, and check compatibility for the specific app you intend to use.
