In its example, a one-year bond raising USD 5 million generates a USD 20,000 formula fee—but the minimum applies, making the issuer’s fee 2% of the amount raised. That is a platform charge, not investor yield or the business’s annual borrowing rate.
Why the minimum fee controls the $5 million example
Bitfinex Securities’ fee schedule gives an example of an issuer raising USD 5 million through a one-year bond. At the schedule’s 0.4% rate, the calculation is USD 20,000. Because the schedule also sets a USD 100,000 minimum for any capital raise, the issuer pays the minimum instead. It is five times the formula result and equals 2% of the USD 5 million raise.

The figure belongs to the issuer. It is not a 2% coupon paid to investors, nor does it state the interest rate a company borrowing money from a fund or lender must pay. Those are separate costs and need separate evidence.

The schedule separates offerings by instrument and maturity; the one-year bond example should not be treated as a universal rate.

For a real offering, the applicable tiers, term, cap and minimum all matter. Issuers should calculate against the current schedule for their specific instrument and maturity rather than applying the worked example to a different raise.
What the capital-raise fee includes—and what it does not establish
Bitfinex says its capital-raise service includes document review for regulatory compliance, optional tokenization, marketing materials and secondary-market listing without an additional listing fee. It also says it does not charge a withdrawal fee when issuers receive proceeds.

Those inclusions do not establish that every expense of an issuance is covered. The schedule does not show that external legal advice, all compliance work or ongoing reporting costs are included in the platform fee. A comparison of financing routes should account for those costs as well as distribution and proceeds received.

Not on the evidence available here. In an October 2026 Bitfinex Blog article, Paolo Ardoino, identified there as Bitfinex CTO, set an industry benchmark: “If in five years we cannot cut the cost for companies to go through the regulatory process, list and raise capital by 80 percent, we didn’t do a good job. Not as Bitfinex, but as an industry.” That is a stated goal, not a documented reduction or a like-for-like measurement of total issuance costs.

Ardoino also used a Buenos Aires farming company generating USD 50 million a year as an illustrative comparison, asking what it would cost to raise debt or capital through regular versus tokenized markets. The revenue figure describes that example company; it is not an industry statistic, and the comparison does not itself demonstrate savings.
To test whether a tokenized issue is cheaper, compare the same issuer, instrument, amount, maturity and financing purpose. Include document and compliance work, platform and listing fees, distribution, ongoing reporting and proceeds received. Keep any bond coupon or borrowing rate separate from the issuance fee. Easier transfer or settlement alone does not show that the issuer’s total costs—or the underlying borrower’s financing rate—fell.

What ALTERNATIVE demonstrates, and what it does not
Bitfinex describes ALTERNATIVE as a Luxembourg securitization fund managed by Mikro Kapital. Its tokenized bond program is presented as an extension of the fund’s monthly conventional bond issuance program. The program help page describes 11-month and 36-month durations, with coupons that vary monthly according to market conditions.

The same help page, dated October 11, 2024, lists a 125,000 USDt minimum for primary issuance and different rules for secondary trading by regular and accredited users. These are program terms, not a universal Bitfinex investor minimum; availability and eligibility depend on the offering and jurisdiction, and current tranche terms should be checked.

CryptoSlate’s October 6, 2026 report on ALTERNATIVE describes prior issues, funding, repayments and coupon payments. That history can show that a pooled issuance and repayment route has operated. It does not establish what portfolio businesses paid to borrow or whether tokenization reduced their costs.
