U.S. spot Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana ETFs all recorded net outflows on September 30, 2026, the final trading day of the third quarter. The Crypto Times, citing SoSoValue data, reported withdrawals of about $149 million from Bitcoin funds, $59.58 million from Ethereum funds, and $11.10 million from Solana funds. FinanceFeeds reported similar Bitcoin and Ether figures but put Solana outflows at approximately $12.5 million. Together, the reports indicate roughly $220 million in net withdrawals—but they do not establish why investors pulled money that day.

What happened on the last day of the quarter?

All three U.S. spot ETF categories moved into net outflow on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. That was the final September trading session and the last day of the third quarter. The reports describe a one-day reversal in fund flows, not evidence by itself of a lasting change in investor demand.

ETF category September 30 net outflow Reported by
Bitcoin About $149 million The Crypto Times, citing SoSoValue data available October 1, 2026, at 18:00 UTC
Ethereum (Ether) $59.58 million The Crypto Times, citing SoSoValue data available October 1, 2026, at 18:00 UTC
Solana $11.10 million The Crypto Times, citing SoSoValue data available October 1, 2026, at 18:00 UTC

FinanceFeeds reported $148.7 million in Bitcoin outflows, $59.6 million in Ether outflows, and approximately $12.5 million in Solana outflows. The estimates agree on the direction and approximate scale, but differ on Solana. The combined figure is therefore best described as roughly $220 million, rather than as a precise total.

Was this part of a broader September reversal?

Not according to the monthly figures reported by The Crypto Times. Bitcoin ETFs had taken in about $3.1 billion over the nine sessions through September 29, and the September totals remained positive for all three categories:

ETF category September net inflows
Bitcoin $2.65 billion
Ethereum $832.43 million
Solana $271.61 million

Those monthly figures and the nine-session Bitcoin streak are from SoSoValue data cited by The Crypto Times. The September 30 Bitcoin withdrawals ended that streak, but did not erase the month’s net inflows. The same report said none of the 12 Bitcoin ETFs or 10 Ethereum ETFs recorded an inflow that day.

Why did crypto ETFs see outflows on September 30?

The available reporting does not establish a specific cause. It documents net fund activity and its timing; it does not show that quarter-end portfolio rebalancing, profit-taking, price movements, or a particular macroeconomic event caused the withdrawals. Nor does a net outflow reveal each investor’s motive.

What the numbers do—and do not—tell investors

  • They show net flows for one session. The figures indicate aggregate inflows and outflows within the reported U.S. spot ETF categories, not the direction of every investor’s trade.
  • They do not establish a market-wide trend. A single day’s withdrawals cannot show whether flows stayed negative in subsequent sessions.
  • They are not a direct measure of crypto prices or investor sentiment. Flow data records fund activity; it does not independently explain price moves or why holders acted.
