Larian’s official support documentation describes the in-game Mod Manager and Toolkit, not a native command prompt for entering cheats. Community guides describe third-party PC utilities, including Norbyte’s Script Extender, that can expose command-like functionality. These are community modding tools, not standard game features; their setup and compatibility depend on the specific tool and game version. Check the tool’s current release notes before following a guide.

Larian introduced the in-game Mod Manager with Patch 7. Its Toolkit is available to PC players, while console players can browse and install supported mods in-game. Larian says only mods made and uploaded with its Toolkit and passing internal testing are eligible for the console and Mac library. What console players can use instead of typed commands
On console, open the in-game Mod Manager and look for an eligible mod that provides the effect you want. The available options are limited to mods admitted to the curated library; console players cannot use the PC Toolkit to create or upload their own mods. A mod’s presence on PC does not guarantee that it is available on PS5 or Xbox.
Larian introduced a 100-mod limit on console platforms in a console-only hotfix, saying the limit was intended to maximize stability. It is a console-specific rule, not a documented PC cap. Larian also warns that removing mods from an existing save can cause instability, so avoid changing a save’s mod setup casually. Details are in Hotfix 29.

Check patch and mod compatibility before using a guide
Mod instructions can stop working after a game update. The latest official update located for this article is Hotfix 36, dated March 26, 2026, version 4.1.1.7209685, which Larian said was rolling out across platforms. Larian had described Patch 8 as the final major patch, while noting that smaller fixes would continue. Check Larian’s news index and the relevant Hotfix 36 notes for updates before relying on version-specific instructions.

- Back up or protect important saves before changing a mod setup, especially before removing mods from a modded save.
For multiplayer, Larian says players loading a modded save or playing together with mods enabled need the same mod versions. A mismatch can prevent a shared session from working as expected; see Larian’s guidance on playing with mods.

Which route should you choose?
- Playing on PS5 or Xbox: Use the in-game Mod Manager and choose from its eligible library. Do not expect a typed command prompt or access to the PC Toolkit.
