Best Yandex Disk Alternatives for Cloud Storage

Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Proton Drive each suit a different Yandex Disk user. Compare their workflows and cited plan details before switching.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What is the best Yandex Disk alternative? It depends on what you need: Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive suit people who work in their respective document ecosystems; Dropbox is a fit for file sharing and recovery features; and Proton Drive is worth considering if end-to-end encryption is your priority. These are use-case matches, not a tested overall ranking.

Yandex Support lists Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, iCloud, Mail.Ru Cloud, and Dropbox as popular cloud services—a useful starting point, not a complete market survey. This guide focuses on options with current product and plan details available in the sources linked below.

How to choose a Yandex Disk alternative

Start with how you use your files, rather than picking a service by its headline storage figure. Consider which tools you already use, how you share files, whether encryption is a priority, and how you will keep a separate copy of important data.

  • For document collaboration: choose the service that fits your existing Google or Microsoft workflow.
  • For sharing and recovery features: compare the available transfer limits and deleted-file recovery window.
  • For encryption: read the provider’s security description and decide whether its account and file-sharing workflow works for you.
  • For a move between services: keep a separate copy until you have checked the new account’s contents.

The available plan pages do not provide a like-for-like performance test, a comparative independent security audit, or a guarantee that every service is available in every country. Check live plan details for your location before paying.

Dropbox: for sharing, transfers, and deleted-file recovery

Dropbox is worth comparing if you want a consumer plan with stated transfer and recovery features. Its plans page displayed Plus for one person with 2 TB of storage, 30 days to restore deleted files, and transfers up to 50 GB. The page’s displayed price was €9.99 per month; this is a plan-page snapshot with a particular locale and billing context, not a global quote. Move your files without risking the originals

Cloud storage keeps files accessible across devices, but changing providers is not a reason to delete the only copy you have. Yandex Support recommends backing up important data such as photos, documents, videos, and music. Proton also identifies physical storage, such as a hard drive, as an option for keeping a local copy.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Make a separate copy first. Keep important files outside the account you plan to leave. An external hard drive is one possible local-copy device; choose capacity based on your own library.
  2. Move files to the new account. Use the options available in the services you have chosen. The cited sources do not establish a provider-specific migration method or guarantee that every file and setting will transfer.
  3. Verify what arrived. Check the new account for the files and folders you expect before deleting anything from Yandex Disk or your separate copy.
  4. Keep a backup after the move. A cloud account makes access and sync convenient, but an additional copy helps avoid relying on a single account or device.

Yandex’s backup guidance is available on its Disk support page; Proton explains cloud storage and physical storage options on its cloud storage explainer.

What the comparisons do—and do not—show

These services differ in billing period, currency, plan structure, and region. The cited pages establish selected vendor descriptions and plan snapshots, not a universal cheapest option, comparative sync speed, a full-market ranking, or consistent availability worldwide. Treat each provider’s security language as its own description unless you have separate evidence for a broader claim.
